Works really well once some possible interface challenges addressed. This print server was bought to connect an old HP LaserJet 1100 Printer via a home router to give a back-up print facility.
First main challenge was how to get from the printer IEEE-1284C (Centronics) 36Pin Female to the Server 36-Pin Parallel Printer Male Port. Suitable interface not easy to find on the internet, but ultimately used the Printer HP Cable (Part No.:- 8120-8668 or C2945A) which is IEEE-1284C (Centronics) 36Pin (M) 2.0m to Parallel DB25Pin (M).
Then, eventually found a C36F to DB25F Parallel Printer Adapter on the internet. ~ IT Supplies Sites generally don’t have these!
Purchased from www.ebuyer.com and Manufacturer Link is https://www.c2g.com/uk/product/81506/centronics-36-female-to-db25-female-parallel-printer-adapter) – Product No. 81506.
Suggest Scan should consider stocking or providing a link to this to go with the Print Servers!
Not being an IT guru, the other challenge was identifying that the initial failure to print was that the Print Server Default Setting needed the subnet changed from 192.168.0.XX., to 192.168.1.XX., to match Router Operating Segment.
Screen messages and download guidance are weak on this aspect due to varying and not always explained terminology, and I only homed in on this via internet forums.
Once all the above was addressed, the Print Server and Printer works fine with any Windows 10 wireless laptop / desktop via the router. A new lease of life / eco-friendly result for a printer which first saw action in the year 2000 and Windows 98SE!
A good buy!
