Chassis Airflow

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by A good case for the price I think that this is a good case. Its got some good storage facility for HDDs and SSDs. The front optical ports are nicely accessible and the folding door adds to the style of the case. The window inside the machine is nice and adds a good touch to it. This case also has good options for airflow so that is all good. The only thing letting it down is that I feel the cable management lets it down a little, otherwise it'd be perfect for a mid-build. 23 April 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by An excellent sleek case I have been surprised with this case, it is far better than I anticipated. I bought this case knowing it was a ATX and not an E-ATX that i needed for my motherboard but that's what i like and as long as you don't mind loosing the nice gromit covered cable holes and the middle drive bays if your board has right-angled SATA ports it fits nicely. The sleek look is fantastic, the filters are easy to change and the dock on top is invaluable to me. It feels sterdy and is well coated. It also has an interesting PSU mount that means you can mount the PSU either way up. It is not without its flaws. chief of these is the radiator mount on the top, the screw holes are raised so standard radiator screws wont fit and none are supplied, plus the radiator can only be mounted on the inside which can cause problems for many motherboard cooling blocks but you can fit single rads back, bottom and if you remove the middle drive bay you can get one in the front. Second problem is the drive caddies are not hot-swap but for the price of this case you cant complain. Final problem was the dock ontop has a cable going into the center of the case instead of down the side for clean cable management. 29 August 2014
