In the past I always used a case that sucked cool air throught the front and blew warm air out the back and top....for me this was logical....my Fractal Design Arc Mini R2...does this job excepionally well so I used this CPU cooler on my i5...it being in context with the size of the case and a Micro Motherboard....looks stunning with the Arcs white fans and cools with a very quiet operation using the PWM system....the instructions were very good....yet remember to connect the the ATX power connector first....for it is a low profile cooler...yet a very good one in the system that I have put togeather....

Rated 5 out of 5 by James89 A great cooler for those with little space.
I bought this because I was building inside a Corsair 250D. I have a bit of a white and gold theme going on (white RAM, ASUS H97I-Plus) and I thought that this would be a great match, even if the performance wasn't exactly outstanding. Well, I was wrong about the performance. It's brilliant.
There are few 'professional' reviews of this cooler online so, after only finding a couple, I decided to just go for it and hope for the best. Thermaltake appear to have changed the installation method since release. If I remember correctly, there was a forum post which put me off a little, about the backplate pushing against the pins of the chipset heatsink on their motherboard. There wasn't a backplate with this cooler and the instructions didn't mention it either so I felt a little more at ease. It's simply 4 screws holding a mounting plate around the CPU socket and then another metal plate to hold the actual heatsink over the processor. Installation is simple and doesn't take long, providing you line up the mounting plate correctly. I have the heatpipes facing my RAM as that was really the only way it would go on my board, without interfering with other components.
The heatsink itself is very light but well made. The extra supports on the opposite side will help prevent sagging over time. The actual base which makes contact with the CPU is flat and has a mirror finish, ensuring brilliant heat dissipation. The fan itself is silent, even under load and it seems to do a good job on my i5 4690. CPUID HWMonitor reports 29C on idle and, after a good few hours playing various games whilst using Intel HD Graphics, I was getting around 45C without the fan really getting louder than at idle. I haven't run any benchmarks to truly test the limits but why bother? That's not what this cooler is about.
If your case doesn't allow for really tall heatsinks, I thoroughly recommend this!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Brackenwall Amazing cooler, little noisy at full rpm.
Perfect cooler, can be a little hard to fit due to size of holes in the fins and will depend on your space in the case, will be easy if you have a big case or do it with the motherboard out of the case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bazman46 Small but mighty!!
Due to space restrictions within my PC case I needed a small low profile cooler that could keep my overclocked A8-5600K APU happy and chilled. The AXP-100 Muscle fits the bill perfectly! The high quality is apparent as soon as you lift the cooler out of its very sturdy box packaging .. it is a lovely mirror shiny unit with what looks like a fairly thick chrome type plating applied to it. The supplied fan is also a quality item that runs silently at low speed, fairly quietly at top speed and certainly supplies very decent airflow to the cooler. It was easy to install (this was the first time I've ever installed a cooler) but does require access to the rear of the motherboard. It performs extremely well for its size! It beats the old stock AMD cooler by 5 to 8 degrees at idle and 15 to 18 degrees under heavy load. For the price I am very happy with it .. it would be very difficult to get better performance from such a compact cooler for less money. Highly recommended for any small, slim cases or anyone looking for a low profile cooler that represents performance, quality and value. **NOTE** .. this 'Muscle' version of the AXP-100 is NOT supplied with the enhanced adjustable fan mount as advertised above .. I have contacted Thermalright and they are supplying me one free of charge due to the error in advertisement ;)
