The larger F/2.8 aperture makes sure every shot is of the highest image quality. Short close range for photos with particularly dynamic perspectivesWith the 17-28mm F/2.8 you can take pictures even from close range. At 17mm, the short close distance of 19cm enables fascinating close-up shots at a magnification of 1:5.2; at 28mm, the nearest focusing distance is 26cm (1: 6). In addition, with the aperture wide open, a very low depth of field with an attractive blur (bokeh) can be achieved. This effect is more pronounced the closer you are to the motif when shooting.
High-performance autofocus that focuses quickly and accurately in any situationThe autofocus system has a sensor that detects the current focus setting of the lens, and an RXD stepper motor. When focusing, they ensure particularly high speed and precision, which allows you to keep even dynamic objects continuously in the focus range offering the ideal conditions for successful snapshots. The AF works so quietly that there is virtually no operating interference in the video recording.

Magnificent Image Quality Without CompromiseThe 17-28mm zoom provides magnificent image quality without compromise despite its compactness. Two LD lens elements and one XLD element (which has properties close to fluorite) are precisely located to quash chromatic and other aberrations. In addition, the BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating applied to lens surfaces reduces ghosting and flare that are otherwise likely to occur when shooting against the sunset’s glow and other backlit situations. Leveraging camera functions, it provides excellent optical performance matching the latest high resolution image sensors from edge-to-edge throughout the entire zoom range. Fluorine Coating
Fluorine Coating protects the front lens from contamination. It prevents oil and water droplets from sticking to the surface. Fingerprints and dirt are easier to remove.
