Pristine Quality With Advanced Control

32-bit integer/384 kHzThe AXR4 series delivers exceptional quality audio, thanks to a sampling rate of up 384 kHz with 32-bit resolution provided by the industry-leading converters built-in.

AXR hybrid mic preampsThe AXR4T has incredible natural-sounding hybrid microphone preamps on all of the front input channels that are developed by Yamaha.

Rupert Neve Designs SILKFor a long time studio engineers have used microphone preamps designed by the legendary Rupert Neve, giving their sound a incredibly rich musical touch with natural compression and saturation.

Compatible with all major audio softwareThe AXR4 works with all major audio editing, mastering, and music production software supporting the ASIO, Core Audio or WDM (2-ch) standard, giving you a completely integrated, DSP-based monitoring setup no matter which DAW you use.

Digital
connectionWith a range of XLR and 6.3mm audio connections, the AXR4 comes with digital in/out ports which allow you to connect using an optical cable to digital audio devices.

Word clock with SSPLL jitter reduction technologyThe AXR4 uses sturdy SSPLL™ (Super Suppression Phase Locked Loop) technology, which is the most advanced technology for minimizing audio band jitter and vital when creating a high-quality, professional audio network.
Thunderbolt 2 Connectivity

Low LatencyAs a result of Thunderbolt 2 technology, the AXR4T has very low latency and high CPU efficiency, a high number of I/Os and two system expansion ports. You can have up to three units daisy-chained, for a total of 84 inputs and 72 outputs, sufficient for most recording applications. The AXR4T is compatible with Macintosh computers using either Thunderbolt 2 or Thunderbolt 3 (via an adapter). For Windows computers a Thunderbolt 3 port and adapter is required.
Included Software

Cubase AICubase AI is a powerful, one-stop music software solution for studio-quality recording, based on Steinberg’s popular, award-winning music production system Cubase Pro. Joining together audio and MIDI recording, editing, mixing and scoring in one, integrated software package, Cubase AI is the ideal introduction into the world of music production software.
With Steinberg’s advanced audio engine, versatile routing and completely automatic delay compensation, it supports 48 MIDI, 16 instrument, 32 audio tracks and 16 physical inputs. Cubase AI includes a variety of high-quality audio effect processors, the HALion Sonic SE workstation instrument and MixConsole for a very enjoyable mixing experience.

dspMixFx AXR mixing applicationThe AXR4 provides zero-latency monitoring with effects for every DAW powered by the built-in DSP chips including Yamaha’s custom-designed DSPX chip and dspMixFx AXR software. All with simple control of all routings and settings.
The dspMixFx AXR technology doesn’t just provide latency-free monitoring but also has the renowned Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip, REV-X reverb and the Vintage Classics Compressor VCM 276 and VCM EQ601. When using Cubase, all the complex monitoring capabilities are fully built into the application’s GUI by True Integrated Monitoring technology.
Studio-Quality Effects Included

Yamaha Vintage Classic Compressor 276The 276 is a stereo compressor that has improved several professional productions. Offering vintage sounding compression, influenced by the punch and warmth of the most iconic studio hardware, the Compressor 276 is a great option for both acoustic instruments and vocals. Yamaha’s Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) technology allows you to experience the unique 1970s-style response and frequency characteristics.

Yamaha Vintage Classic EQ 601The EQ 601 take the sound of a classic 1970s equalizer and combines it with a wide range of handy features. With six fully parametric bands, frequencies can be altered with high detail. The lower and upper bands feature shelving filters, and the four mid bands feature peaking filters, accurately reproducing the boost and cut frequency response of vintage analog equipment. The Drive setting allows you to recreate the analog distortion characteristics of the original unit in your modern DAW.

REV-X reverbThe REV-X built into the AXR4T is a diverse reverb algorithm designed by Yamaha. Known for its high-density, rich and reverberant sound quality, with smooth attenuation, spread and depth that work together to improve the original, dry sound. REV-X has three types of reverb effects: Hall, Room and Plate, with reverb time and level controls. REV-X is a classic reverb effect, ideal for adding a professional touch to each recording.

Sweet Spot Morphing Channel StripThe Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip is made up of a sidechain-enabled compressor and a three-band parametric equalizer. Both compressor and EQ were made to provide a musically rich sound. Featuring a morph knob that smoothly lets you to morph through both EQ and compression settings in combination in order for you to come up with the ideal sound by using just one control section.
Leading-Edge Virtual Circuitry Modeling

Accurate Analog RecreationVCM was created by an engineering group led by Toshifumi Kunimoto (Dr. K), who was also responsible for the first physical modeling synthesizers, VL1 and VP1. VCM provides a realistic digital recreation of each component like resistors and capacitors found in analog circuits.
Along with modeling the functionality of a circuit and the interaction between single components, VCM includes an accurate musical simulation of analog sounds, including all the finer characteristics like saturation and non-linearity that simple digital simulations struggle to recreate.
Every effect is carefully designed and altered by some of the most experienced engineers, then tweaked to give you the best sound possible in modern sound. Astonishingly accurate, whilst very musical, the VCM technology is the simplest approach to analog sound modelling, now available in the SILK processor on AXR4 hybrid mic preamps and EQ 601 and Compressor 276 both available onboard DSP and Advanced FX Suite plug-in bundle in AXR4.
AXR4T Advantages

Perfect For Any StudioAs the AXR4T can connect to a massive variety of musical instruments and audio equipment, it is an ideal interface for any recording application. Both condenser and dynamic microphones can be used with the +48 V phantom power on all four XLR/TRS combo inputs, which can also work with line level signals.
Inputs 1 and 2 can accommodate Hi-Z signals, so electric guitars and basses, MIDI equipment and any kind of studio equipment or playback device can all be used. With an array of analog and digital output options, along with additional I/O available via the digital connections, the AXR4T has all the connectivity needed for professional production situations. A unique feature of the AX4T is that up to three units can be daisy-chained using Thunderbolt 2.
