The world's greatest documentary camera gets an upgrade with the FS7 Mark II, making it one of the most versatile Super 35mm camcorders. Sony's upgraded camera features an all new-lens mount and Electronic Auto Variable ND system, even the ergonomics have been altered to give you an even better feeling camera. The improved ergonomics also allow for better moving and shooting, its shape makes it ideal for putting on a gimbal and is light enough to be comfortable when shoulder-mounted.
During a fast moving shoot, where the time between capturing the moment and an environmental change, you need added support from the camera. This is where the FS7 II's electronic ND Filters come into play. They constantly change, so you don't need to change exposure or filter settings as the world around you changes during a shoot, you can still maintain the right resolution and colour balance.
With an E-mount system, Sony offer an abundance of compatibility with both Sony and third-party lenses. The E-Mount can be adapted to fit cinema lenses and SLR, as well as take advantage of Sony's range of E mount system. This way, if you've already invested in a set of lenses in your kit, you don't have to rebuy new to get started with this camera.
The Sony FS7 Mark II comes equipped with the Exmor sensor, a Super 35 4K sensor that gives you outstanding 4K resolution, ISO 2000 sensitivity, 14 stops of exposure latitude and an extremely quick readout, helping you when you shoot in a high frame rate with minimised image skew. When shooting in HD, recordings come out at a step above the rest, with details and textures that regular HD sensors can't even begin to compare to.
Bokeh is also available, giving you defocussed backgrounds that utilise shallow depth of field, enhanced by brilliant low-light sensitivity and the sensor's expansive field of view.
When shooting a documentary, you need to capture that perfect moment and sometimes, it's just that bit too quick. A lightning strike, animals on the move or a heartfelt moment between two people, you need slow motion. The FS7 II can do iu to 180fps in Full HD, with support for down to 1fps. Your timelapse effects will look magnificent, while slow motion scenes will convey movement in ways your audience will love, as it plays at 7.5x the speed.
The FS7 Mark II allows you to record externally to the XDCA-FS7 (sold separately), giving you access to Apple ProRes and RAW, for even more control over your footage. The onboard system can do 4K at variable framerates (59.94/50/29.97/25/24 and 23.98), as well as XAVC (Intra) 4K at 600Mbps, QFHD and Full HD.
