Product Overview The Petit PT14 is designed to be one of the smallest computer chassis for Intel Next Unit of Computing (NUC) platform. It measures only half a liter in size while accommodating an Intel NUC motherboard. Inside the PT14’s aluminum top cover, SilverStone added a heat-pipe for better heat conducting efficiency to enable optional fanless operation. On the bottom, there is also an included 60mm PWM fan to provide extra cooling performance or thermal protection. Complementing this impressively small case are a VESA mounting bracket and wall mount kit to help PT14 fit in nearly any environment.

Chip giant Intel produces the microprocessors - or brains - used in approximately 80 per cent of PCs. The firm acutely understands that desktop computers need to be made more appealing if they're to be lifted from the malaise affecting the industry.

It's a great time to be interested in small-form-factor computing. Once a niche hobby for home-theatre PC enthusiasts, small-form-factor designs are now capturing everyone's imagination thanks in no small part to the Raspberry Pi phenomenon.

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Silverstone PT14B-H2 Petit Black Aluminum Case for Intel NUC Motherboards 2xHDMI 60mm Silent Fan VESA is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost perfect... This case is superb in comparison to the original Intel case. I have the fan connected, an optional, but recommended step - and have never heard it. Have not seen temps exceed 60 degrees (in Intel case it idled at 68 - 70 with the fan on). For the price, this is perfection. Now for the minor niggle - my case arrived and was missing the power button extender. Scan were willing to rectify but as there were none of these left in stock they advised I could be looking at a 3 week wait, and suggested I contact Silverstone Tech for a speedier solution. I did - and in under a week the missing part (and some extra screws) arrived. I was a tad let down to find the power extender button was entirely plastic. Even if the whole thing couldn't be aluminium to match the case, it would have been a welcome touch if the visible part of the button had an aluminium cap or something. That said, I run OpenELEC on my NUC and use a remote control to turn it on and off, and only need the power button to turn it on from cold, which so far has only been necessary when I swapped the case out to this one. Overall, compared to alternative brands, a nice looking, excellent performing, and for me, totally silent case as an unbeatable price. Strongly recommend - BUT I have managed to find a few other people who have suffered the missing power extender button issue - so perhaps Scan could offer to check contents prior to shipping if the customer is happy for them to do so?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from cools better than standard intel nuc case simple to install, it cools the nuc board muc better than intels nuc case. but as my nuc recently started overheating i decided to get this. it cools much better but there is one flaw. the fan is at the bottom so extracts air downwards towards the surface its sitting on. if you flip the case up side down the is a very noticable temp drop. bad flaw in a otherwise decent case. it still cools better than the bog standard nuc case

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Case with Good Cooling Bought this in an attempt to resolve the overheating issue with my DC3217IYE NUC which came with the standard black case. It seems to have done the trick and appears to have a much better thermal design than the original Intel case. The build quality is to a high standard and fitting the motherboard was straightforward.
