Chassis Airflow
Chassis Airflow
Date Issued: 20th Oct 2008

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good case for a quieter system. Got this for a new build. It has good access for installation, with it's removable (and padded) side panels. There are plenty of holes in the chassis to allow for neat cable runs and the finished build runs nice and quiet. This case lacks the silicon mounts in HDD trays seen in some other cases. Having said that, I have not been distracted by HDD vibration, and the case is certainly very good value for money. 19 March 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Cheap, useful and nicely made Scan wants a review of my products purchased, don't see the point and it's Friday... until I saw this in the list. I needed a case that was cheap but not nasty, wasn't in need of anything specific (gaming, high performance, etc) so this would house a FX6300 with ACF7. For the price range (39.99) I thought this was worth a try and I'm not mistaken, it's not as awesome as a full tower performance case @ 80 quid+, and it's not silent like the oh so awesome Fractal R4's but if you need a decent case on a budget this is it. I tend to avoid the cheaper cases as they're cheaper for a reason! There's some padding to keep noise down, it's not massively effective but I only have an arctic freezer cooler not a 212 or better. Presentation wise it's nice, material is fine not too flimsy, power button very tacky but it works. I like the fact I can face the PSU down and it's on a stand with holes to let air through instead of facing the M/B and components, so thought has gone into it by the designers. I also like the slight lift in the case (see stock picture) to accommodate connections inside. Cable management is a breeze! tl;dr - on a budget? want a decent case? get it. Have a higher budget? need better performance for cooling? want complete silence? go for the R4 (for silence not cooling!). 08 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Slick looking case. Easy to build in and intuitively designed. The sound proofing seems to be doing its job well and it has lots of space for graphics cards and big CPU coolers. Really happy with how it looks. 28 October 2015
