Product Overview

Quality Aluminium Heatsink

With the ever-increasing popularity of solid state drive (SSD) being used as the primary storage device in PCs, capacity and performance continue to climb in newer models but so have their operating temperatures. This has resulted in situations where SSDs, especially the smaller M.2 variants with fewer surface areas have overheated and throttled or shut down completely. To help alleviate this new generation of heat problems, ScanFX recommend the TP02-M2 cooler, it includes a quality aluminium heatsink to provide a simple and effective cooling solution for M.2 SSDs.

Features
• Aluminium alloy heatsink increases M.2 SSD cooling area.
• Efficient heat conduction pad for reducing temperature.
• Double layer design enhances SSD cooling for stability and efficiency.
• Supports 2280 length M.2 SSD.

The arrival of the solid-state drive (SSD) has revolutionised the speed at which modern PCs perform common tasks. This is because SSDs have no moving parts, compared to larger, bulkier mechanical drives, thus they store information on memory chips. This means that accesses, reads and writes are many, many times faster

A motherboard’s main job is to act as a conduit between the various hardware elements that make up a PC. It needs to be able to link the desired CPU(s), system memory, graphics card, hard drive(s), and add-in cards and enable them to work in harmony.

Reviews
Scan 3XS TP02M2 Heat Sink, for M.2 2280 SSD, Aluminium Passive Cooler, Silent, Black is rated 1.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mounting is terrible As with the other reviewers, mounting is terrible. Going to open back up and get using a spacer on a motherboard mount as it simply doesn't work using the M2 mounting position as when you tighten, it raises from the chips. Although, I may be doing something wrong...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worthless Impossible to actually mount properly without thermal pads which aren't included. If you try to tighten the screw enough that it doesn't swing around in a light breeze it pops up so that it's not actually covering anything anyway. I got it for free and it wasn't even worth the time I spent trying to install it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terrible fitment The actual heat sink is fine and covers the SSD I purchased, quite nicely, but it is only held on with a single screw, so it cannot be mounted correctly. Needs an alternative method of keeping it attached, something like a sticky pad to stop it dangling from where its screwed in. if its screwed in any tighter, the silicon chips force the heat sink away from the rest of the SSD.
