The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Reviews
Sama Ark Full Tower Computer Chassis, with RGB Front Top & Rear Fans with Integrated RGB colour, 2x USB 3.0, Black is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice features but lets itself down in places. at first glance of the posted specs, it appears this is a very roomy well put together case: The Specs on Scan's website stated bays for 4x 3.5in drives and 10 x 2.5in drives. this is not strictly true. When the product arrived, it showed on the box 6 x2.5 and 4x 3.5. There are only THREE bays on the back side of the motherboard tray, for 3.5in drives. I suppose it is possible to double up 2.5 inch drives in them, but for the sake of this review lets just put one drive in each... either 3.5 or 2.5. There are a further three cages on the Inside of the motherboard tray. these definitely only take 2.5.inch drives. There are also only 2x 5.25inch bays for CD rom drives or front panel accessories. Normally that wouldnt be much of a problem, cos who needs two CD drives right? .... Well,.,..according to the manual, for a FOURTH 3.5 inch HDD to be fitted in this case, it HAS to sit on the bottom of the mounting cage for the 5.25's. meaning, effectively that if you have more than three normal sized hard drives, you will lose a CD / 5.25in bay. I ordered two of these cases. One for my boy's machine and one, prospectively, for me to transplant my system. I was worried about the apparent lack of drive bays, so I called customer services for advice before ordering. I was told there was a bracket available for further drives... ( My current system is unusual in that I have 5x 3.5in drives fitted,...PLUS three 2.5in SSDs AND 2 optical drives AND a 3.5 inch front USB-C panel currently fitted. I needed space for all those, and I was led to believe there would be enough, there is not. My current case is an X-Predator II and has mounts for 6x 5.25 AND 6x 3.5in, (with adapters for 2.5inch.) ( see Photo) On the SAMA case, there is GREAT space behind the motherboard tray for cable management. The cages for the 3.5inch drives are sturdy. however, due to the feet of the case being situated on the main body more to the middle of the case, the extra weight of fitted drives on that side made it very VERY prone to tipping to the right (when viewed from the front). not very stable at all. I felt it necessary to place the machine as close to the desk as possible, making the plastic window on that side actually pointless. All you can see through it is a cable jumble and any installed HDDs anyway. The installed HDDs are also NOT in the path of the cooling fans, so possibly there is a potential for them to get a tad warm, if more than one installed. The installed fans are very quiet, in my opinion, even when set at high, but bear in mind the centre position of the HI- LO switch is OFF..That caught me out at first.. their LEDs are bright and a good range of colours..and I can;t complain about that. a goodly amount of screws are provided, but I would have preferred screwless / tool-less fixtures for PCI expansion ports and CD mounts given the amount of space available in this case. Overall, if you have only 2 or 3 drives to install, not worried about CD drives, etc this is a cracking case for space. Just be aware of the limitation on front panel accessories. It;s pretty well made, and even those rubber grommets stayed in place quite well. Whether it is worth the price being asked, I honestly don't think so. As there are probably better cases out there, or cases which would do the same job for similar or lower prices. Shop around. :)
