Roland - 'MX-1'
Mix Performer

18-Channel Performance MixerThe Roland MX-1 Mix Performer combines your synths, drum machines, loops, DAW tracks, and more into a single performance-optimized mixing instrument. Bringing together elements of a mixer, control surface, audio interface, and step-based effector, featuring step-sequenced FX, transport and tempo control, the MX-1 is made to be the core of your electronic music set up.
With six analog inputs, four AIRA Link USB ports, digital I/O with send and return jacks, the MX-1 can stream 18 channels to and from your DAW whilst bringing together a wide variety of musical sources, putting them directly under your fingertips. The smooth, solid faders feature six different volume curves available. Every channel has a tweakable Tone/Filter knob with ten types of filters, EQs, and isolators.
Mutes are placed for instant access, whilst working with the LED-lit faders to display their status clearly in dark settings such as the stage. The DJ-style headphone cue monitoring means you can smoothly mix in any source whenever you like, or drop in tracks right on the beat. Individual headphone and master volume controls along with smooth and bright metering keep levels firmly in check. And everything, including all the FX configurations and settings, can be saved and instantly recalled.
Amazing Features
• External mode provides 18 channels from DAW through mixer and FX (all inputs direct to DAW)
• Three kinds of step-sequenced Beat FX (Filter, Side Chain, Slicer) with TR-style buttons
• 18 channel performance mixer with step-sequenced FX, transport, and tempo control
• Beat FX and Master FX can be applied to any or all inputs; Beat FX are per channel
• Combi mode rhythmically alternates the Master FX using the step-sequencer
• Six kinds of Master FX (48 variations) with large performance control knob
The Desired Effect

Unique CharacteristicsIt is without a doubt that effects play a huge part in creating unique characteristics whilst defining your sound. The MX-1 integrates effects in exciting new ways, not only by sounding great but, they’re designed for complete control and rhythmic sensibility, thanks to the MX-1’s tempo awareness and the TR-style step interface.
Along with the aux send for feeding external effects, each channel features its own Beat FX including Filter, Side Chain, and Slicer. These work when using sixteen TR-style step sequencer buttons like those featured on renowned Roland drum machines. This lets you separately filter, duck, and slice each channel, making for cool rhythmic variations, polyrhythms, and all variations of complex grooves.
Beat FX can instantly be switched on and off per channel using dedicated, illuminated buttons. Six kinds of Master FX, each with lots of variations, add extra character to any or all channels. The large control knob gives them enhanced playability. The Master FX can also be step-sequenced in various combinations, creating stunning movement and glitchy interludes that must be heard to be fully appreciated.
Link In & Sync Up

Get ConnectedThe MX-1 is so much fun to play that you'll be sure to want to plug all kinds of equipment into it. Four individual 1/4-inch jacks support almost any kind of instrument, and the stereo 1/8-inch jack works perfectly for smartphones, tablets, and several gadgets.
There are also four AIRA Link USB ports that make connecting your AIRA gear work instantly. With fully automatic detection, AIRA Link USB ports transmit audio, MIDI, and sync over a single USB cable. One of the ports can also give bus power to a compatible AIRA device like the TB-3 Touch Bassline or VT-3 Voice Transformer. AIRA Link reduces cable clutter and makes setup quick and easy.
The MX-1 is also fully time aware and gives you hands-on control of start, stop, tempo, and timing. Sync a range of musical devices over MIDI or AIRA Link. Control everything with the well lit TR-style start/stop button and large tempo knob with fine adjustment, shuffle control, and tap function.
Works Great With Or Without Computers

Further ControlComputers are already a big role in production, and they play more and more of a role in performance. Although they don’t always integrate so well with other live instruments, and need their own audio interface and controller.
The MX-1 recognised these problems with its ability to operate in any one of three different modes. In Control Surface mode, the MX-1 can sync to your computer and work as a high-quality MIDI controller for your DAW.
In Mixer mode, the MX-1 can mix all connected sources, including analog and digital inputs, AIRA gear, and your computer’s output. While there’s a dedicated channel for a stereo output from your computer, you can also send computer audio to USB channels 1 thru 4 if no device is connected to the AIRA Link USB ports.
In External mode, the MX-1 can send all its inputs straight to your DAW, working as a high-quality audio interface. It can also mix 18 channels back from your DAW at the same time, putting them on the MX-1’s faders. This lets you control the recording, clip triggering, effects, and mixing functions of your DAW along with the MX-1’s cue monitoring, sync, and performance-optimized mixing and effects capabilities. The possibilities are almost endless. While the MX-1 clearly makes working with a computer way more fun, works just as well on its own. So if it’s full hands-on control of your DAW or completely out-of-the-box production and performance, the MX-1 works perfectly.
A Mixer Reimagined As An Instrument

Unified recording
Clip Launching & Performance MixingThe Roland MX-1 is built with an extremly rugged enclosure, whilst highly flexible, and extremely capable, all this mixing and effect control would be nothing if it was all too difficult to use. But Roland have made mixing and effects so cleverly and thoughtfully integrated in the MX-1, everything is fast, instant, and intuitive, whilst musical, and made to be played. Like all AIRA gear, there are no confusing menus or layered functions to interrupt your workflow.
The MX-1 Mix Performer's "Live Mode" takes its forward-thinking approach to mixing and unmatched audio interface capabilities and combines it with the ability to fully control Live's clip and scene launching as well as track selection and monitoring. The result is a unified environment, allowing you to naturally mix hardware and software, record any input directly to clips, launch clips and scenes, apply hands-on, step-sequenced effects, and even take the whole thing to the stage where you can really play Live. If you already use a controller like Push, the MX-1 works perfectly, expanding the capabilities of both, and opening up new capabilities for your music.
