Sporting optimised specifications alongside a comprehensive IR remote support, the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition is an unparalleled choice for audiophile Hi-Fi users who choose to use the converter for a primary interface for immaculate, unblemished music and movie audio reproduction.
The ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition is one of the most accomplished and adaptable converters on the market today and integrates numerous devices in one single unit; a high-end AD/DA converter with Steady Clock FS Femto-Clock, a dual headphone amplifier, a multi-format converter as well as an AD/DA frontend for audio measurements, mastering and hi-fi applications with upto a staggering 768kHz sampling frequency.
What's new?The ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition features the AK4493, the very same DAC chip of the RME ADI-2 DAC, this greatly reduces the THD and boosts the signal-to-noise ratio by 3dB during digital-to-analogue conversion. RME’s unmatched circuit design also brings 2.5dB of analogue headroom alongside a digital headroom increase of up to +4dBFS, ensuring that even high intersample peaks do not cause any audible distortion.
Much the same as the ADI-2 DAC, the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition has the versatile and handy IR remote control. This includes RME’s new Multi-Remote control, which seamlessly matches the functionality of both the DAC and Pro. Alongside dedicated buttons for standby, volume, mute, balance, bass/treble, input selection and more, it sports several assignable buttons to allow versatile access to 52 various features and commands. Alternatively, 3rd party controls like the Logitech Harmony series, or any other programmable IR transceivers can also be put to use with the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition.

A Truly versatile AD/DA converter
The ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition has two servo-balanced analogue inputs on combo XLR/TRS jacks, two separate outputs on XLR and TS (both balanced and unbalanced), two stereo ‘Extreme Power’ headphone outputs on the front panel, an optical SPDIF I/O that is also ADAT compatible, coaxial SPDIF (RCA) and AES i/O (XLR) via the included breakout cable. Such an array of I/O options make this truly versatile, with such flexibility in connectivity, this is for those who will leave no stone unturned in their quest for the highest quality audio.
The USB 2.0 outlet if class compliant (UAC-2) for connectivity with iOS devices and is also the point of connection for downloading the latest firmware updates from RME.
For use as a computer interface, the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition features a stereo (2 in 2 out) and a multichannel mode (6 in 8 out), it is compatible with Mac devices straight from the box, whilst Windows use uses RME’s MADIface series driver, for full WDM and ASIO compatibility and peak performance.
Perfect Sound Capture and Reproduction
Flawless performance
RME aimed for nothing short of the reference sound when designing the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition. As such, every detail in the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition is calculated and is there to serve a purpose. The main PCB is a magnificent 10-layer design with custom copper thickness, ensuring the finest and purest sound as well as ample, but separate power for the phones outputs. Internal power supply stages and precise regulators use an ultra-low noise design as to not degrade performance through the power rails.
Selected SoundPlus operational amplifiers maintain the highest SNR, the lowest THD and high slew rate under any and all conditions. The entire analogue circuit design is completely symmetrical and balanced across the whole circuit, and is DC coupled.
The 4 channel AD-converter, which fully supports 786kHz sample rate and DSD recording is used in a dual mono design, with a 3db improved signal to noise ratio. Two premium DAC’s are used for two separate stereo outputs. Internal audio processing such as EQ’s, crossfeed and spectral analyser is taken care of by a high-performance DSP with 2.17 gigaflops, delivering enough computing power to work at sample rates all the way upto 768kHz.
For ease of operation, a high-quality Sample Rate Converter has been added, with the option to choose between AES or SPDIF input, which solves any clocking problem between the two. RME’s latest SteadyClock III technology ensures faultless jitter reduction and stability in clocking.

The display is not only used to control the unit and display information, but also shows warning and guidance messages.

Thanks to the ‘Extreme Power’ design, you’ll enjoy 0.1-ohm output impedance, a +22dBu maximum output level, and 1.5 watts of output power per channel.
The two headphones outputs are completely separate, featuring balanced operation and boast the same 120dBA signal-to-noise ratio as the ADI-2 Pro FS’s line outs.
