SE Mark Custom 24 in Stunning Scarlet Red
The original PRS Custom 24 was unveiled in 1985, and has become a stalwart of pro players everywhere. The idea was simple, that this guitar would have you covered, whatever kind of gig you needed to play. Now, 32 years on, this SE version reminds us, just what a great idea that was.
This is one well made, well voiced, easy to play guitar, with classic voices from its 85/15 "S" type pickups complete with partial coil tap.
I've mentioned before that although these instruments are less than half the cost of a US PRS, they are by no means only half the quality. Indeed, this is a lot of guitar for the money, and don't let anyone tell you differently.
Ever since Paul Reed Smith created his original twenty guitars for the 1985 NAMM show (known as the NAMM 20) the quality of his workmanship and the passion to create inspirational guitars has never faltered.
In the early 2000's PRS launched the SE range of guitars to great acclaim, and for good reason. Designed by PRS and following the same attention to detail and quality as their iconic predecessors, these guitars provide the guitarist with a sound, a playability and looks that far outweigh their price tag.
The SE range from PRS guitars provide a choice of fantastic quality woods, different classic PRS neck profiles, from the "wide thin" of an SE Mark Tremonti Custom to the "wide fat" of an SE Zach Myers. The famous 25" scale length that PRS are well known for but also catering for players who are used to the 24.5" scale length is the SE 245 and not forgetting the 27.7" scale SE 277 Baritone.
PRS Pickups, PRS designed tuners, PRS designed Stoptail Bridge or PRS Patented Tremolo System and now the newly available Floyd Rose Tremolo cover all the options you could hope for, and each guitar in the SE range is completed by the Paul Reed Smith signature on the headstock and those iconic bird inlays.
