Enhance your Workflow...
PreSonus - 'Studio One'
Work better, faster
Presonus’s ‘Studio One 4’ was designed with functionality and ease of use as it’s main focal point. For over 10 years, Studio One has effortlessly married together the time-tested and proven recording studio model, with the modern days ‘Beat & Loop’-oriented production workflow, so you’re able to give life to your musical ideas quicker than ever before.
An intuitive, single-screen interface is home to an unlimited number of tracks, versatile editing tools and revolutionary virtual instruments. Use your valuable time creating music, rather than spending your time wondering what to click next. Studio One doesn’t dictate your workflow or what to work on.
3 Creative Paths, One Goal
kickstart your creative processStudio One is the perfect creative companion, from the very beginning to the very end. The home page gives you everything you need to begin your creative process – open projects, determine parameters and search for software updates and tips. From here, the ‘Song Page’ is all about recording, arranging, editing and mixing your projects with an entire set of virtual instruments, effects and revolutionary arrangement tools. Then, arrange and master your music in the ‘Project Page’.
Even better, the ‘Project’ and ‘Song Pages’ are intertwined, so, if you need to make just one minor change in your master or stems, switch to the Song Page, twear and mix back automatically to the Project. There’s simply no other program that achieves the goal of such effortless transition as you move swiftly from the initial beginnings of song creation, to the final, finished mastered production.
Groundbreaking 'Harmonic Editing'
the most flexible chord track implementation everLaborious transposition, cutting, pasting and moving during arranging is now a thing of the past. With scratchpads to try out arrangements, an ‘Arranger’ track now means that moving sections is as simple as moving parts, and the revolutionary ‘Harmonic Editing’ is the most versatile chord track implementation ever seen. There is simply no other program that can come close to the ease of arranging and songwriting that Studio One 4 offers.
Giving Yourself the Best View
Stunning NanoEdge DisplayMuch more than just a simple chord track for note data, Studio One 4’s ‘Chord Track’ is a songwriters dream. Create, audition and change chord progressions, try chord substitutions, swap rich chords for simple ones, you can even have old parts follow a new, greater chord structure you came up with thanks to the creative spark that Harmonic Editing can deliver. This breakthrough, which works seamlessly with instruments and even draft audio tracks, underscores Studio One’s promise to streamline the song writing and music creation process.
Bridge the Analogue/Digital Divide
effortlessly mix and match your plug-ins and hardwareStudio One now boasts a reworked hardware audio device controller for software control of your PreSonus interface’s gain and polarity controls. Furthermore, if your interface doesn’t feature these controls, you can get software gain and polarity control of each input with Studio One! Bring both of these technologies together to softly drive your hardware preamps without ever committing a super-hot signal to disk.
Studio One Professional’s unique ‘Pipleline XT’ plug-in allows you to use your collection of boutique, retro and classic analogue signal processor as swiftly as software plug-ins. Compensation for latency is automatic, so you can effortlessly mix and match your plug-ins and hardware.
MIDI - and Beyond MIDI...
Compatible with all standard MIDI gearStudio One works alongside all the standard MIDI gear you know and love, from controllers to tone modules. However, once MIDI data lands in Studio One, it’s swiftly converted to a hi-res, 32-bit internal format. This means no zipper noise on instruments, more fluid controller changes and pitch bends, more detailed automation, and other benefits whilst working in the Studio One environment. If you need to drive external MIDI gear, Studio One has you covered there too. It translates it’s hi-res format back into standard MIDI data if required to return to the outside world.
Studio One even sports a varied set of creative note editing tools like ‘Randomize’, ‘Apply Scale’, ‘Mirror Notes’ and more, alongside utilitarian options such as ‘Quantize’ and ‘Humanize’. All of these are able to be assigned to keyboard shortcuts and included in Macros. MIDI editing has never felt so good.
'Studio One' - The Complete Solution
Work your wayStudio One is designed to efficiently assist you in your creative process without getting in the way. One testament to this design philosophy is Studio One’s custom keyboard shortcuts. Not only can you customize all of Studio One’s key commands to your liking, there’s even presets available for the key commands of other DAWs like Pro Tools, Logic, and more—your transition to Studio One will be as smooth as possible when using your old, familiar key commands.
You also get Custom Macro functionality, allowing you to build combinations and sequences of keystrokes and assign them to a single keyboard shortcut or button in Studio One’s Macro Toolbar—reducing the time required for oft-repeated tasks in your workflow.
Versatile Format SupportPrepare your tracks for streaming with data compressed, standard, or lossless files. AAF (Advanced Authoring Format) provides song/session exchange for those who haven’t switched to Studio One (yet). Open all video and audio formats your operating system supports. Enjoy better video performance with 64-bit video engines for macOS and Windows, and export a video file with your embedded mixdown.
Create disk images. Burn Red Book CDs. Import DDP files for editing, such as fixing ID tags or ISRC code errors, then export the corrected DDP file. Whether your music’s final destination is online streaming or physical media, Studio One Professional has you covered. Most recently, we’ve added export support for variable-bitrate MP3, AAC, ALAC, and good ol’ mono!
'A Collaborator'To the uninitiated, a DAW might be thought of as the digital era’s equivalent of a tape machine. Sound goes in, you press the red button, and the sound goes to tape. Fact is that Studio One is an instrument unto itself, with a wealth of compositional tools and creativity-enhancing tricks that go well beyond utilitarian recording.
Studio One’s tools are about creating something new and re-shaping the familiar into something new—not merely documenting something created elsewhere.
World-class InstrumentsWith its rich roster of native plug-ins, Studio One has earned its reputation as a complete production package—and now our latest generation of virtual instruments, based on input from the Studio One community (thank you), deliver even more. Impact has been remade into Impact XT, a comprehensive beat and rhythm production environment, and Sample One XT samples, slices, and dices to create great beats and realistic instrument sounds. These new instruments don’t feel like separate plug-ins, but as integrated—and integral—parts of music creation.
Studio One’s new Plug-in Manager helps keep your third-party plug-ins organized, activated... or even blacklisted.
PatternsThe step sequencer has served us well for over half a century—it’s time for Studio One’s new Patterns to step into the future. Tight integration with instrument parts, automation, and Impact XT means that Patterns re-invent step sequencing as a seamless, fast, fun part of making music.
Patterns transform step sequencing from mechanical repetition into a truly expressive addition to modern sequencing. Yes, Patterns are about drums… but also melodies, integration with any instrument, step-based automation, variable sequence lengths (polyrhythms, anyone?), unlimited variations, and more.
Master MasteringStudio One Professional is the only DAW that links songs and stems with finished, mixed Projects. Transfer mixes or mixed stems to the Project page for mastering—but if you hear anything you need to change, simply jump back into the Song, make your tweaks, and then mix the revised version back automatically into the Project page to continue mastering.
Whether for Red Book-compatible CD burning, digital publishing for streaming, creating DJ sets and playlists, or professional-level DDP import/export for duplicators, the Song page/Project page partnership makes it easy to obtain consistent levels and tonal balance with collections of songs.
