The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Reviews
Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by A small box with thick walls The build quality is a 9/10, and the ideas for functionality are great. I enjoy the raised base for underside airflow to the psu, the split design of the top radiator area, the logic behind the HDD bays and the speed at which you can swap out panel pieces, both front and back. The case comes with more than enough of the right screws, all matching in colour, and mostly well machined. Variable case fan speed switch is great for near silent thru the night downloads. However, do not be fooled by this case's large appearence. The actual area between the ATX motherboard mount and the HDD bays is tiny, so if your SATA ports face right instead of forward, you'll be fiddling trying to plug them in. The front (or in this case top) connector array features usb 2 and 3 and jack ports, all of which have very stiff actuation which is good for retaining your wires, but pits undue stress on the poorly supported unit when inserting and disconnecting. There is only one fan with LEDs with this case, and it's the big one. Using a radiator with this case will render the top two drive ports unusable as your radiator tubes will occupy this space. (I'll admit I may have skimmed the descriptiin when I went to choose a radiator) This case will not fit a kraken x61 radiator naturally, although there is space for one with a little alteratiin to the metal frame's screw hole placement and the top cover's mounting flash. The plastic panels colour doesn't exactly match the steel frame. Disassembly feels like you're going to break something taking the plastic front and top off. Only just fits a gtx960 (4mm of clearance between the card and internal fan). My front grille rattles, both on the grille itself and the mesh insert. The power LED should be green. 03 December 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent case Bought this case to replace my old one which wasn't large enough to take my new graphics card. Its easy to work with the HDD caddies all being screw free! Very happy with the look and quality, a great case at a great price. 22 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Case - Just One Issue This case was bought for my brothers build which I did for him. It looks very nice and the features are great. The top fan that exhausts air has blue LED's built into it and it looks very nice. The case fans are very quiet even on full power and the system as a whole is quiet. The one issue was that to route the 4+4 pin CPU connector to the motherboard, I had to take the top exhaust fan out of the case, route the cable and then put it back in. I just couldn't fit the connector through the gap because the fan was blocking it. Overall, a very good case, highly satisfied with the build I did in it and it looks great! 29 January 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great to build in and looks amazing! This case comes from the highly reputable NZXT which are known for producing some of the best aesthetic PC parts on the market, and this case certainly doesn't fail to impress. First of Ll, te sleek look and simplicity combined with the fairly light weight make it great as an actual desk-top PC should you have limited under-desk space. It has hidden drive bays so you don't have to worry about your disk drives it fan controllers clashing with the colour if your chosen Phantom 410. Which brings me to another point; the onboatd fan controller is great for controlling te temperature and noise of your PC during tasks such as gaming where you'll need to turn it up, or just general document editing etc where you'll prefer a quieter PC and won't risk an overheat. There's lots of space inside of the case for routing your wires, and the back panel is great for keeping the case tidy, with lots of tie down points along the inside and a considerable distance from the panel to prevent cable bulging. Also, or ofte drive bays can be removed for users of particularly large GPUs or, in my case, extra space for routing cables! Overall, of definitely recommend this case, both to experienced and new builders! As I am writing this review from my phone, I can't say everything (and my spelling may be a it bad!) but I cannot fault this case, so if you're considering it, get it! 14 November 2013
