Product Overview The IU01 addresses an issue common to most gaming PCs that is a lack of substantial power and expandability from the front-panel USBs.

The IU01 enhances control and boosts power for front-panel USB devices by connecting them directly to the power supply as opposed to the motherboard, ensuring that there?s always enough power to control your accessories and peripherals.

The IU01 also adds six internal USB ports that are great for powering items that you don?t need constant access too like a Bluetooth module or USB wireless router allowing you to free up the external ports for additional accessories. Features • 6 Internal USB expansion
• 2 External USB expansion
• Dedicated power from power supply
• Plug and use, no drivers needed
Interface USB Header
  • 2 x USB 2.0
  • 4 x USB Header

TekSpek Guides
Date Issued: 21st Oct 2008

You've probably read the USB Tekspek, and perhaps your intrigue, or product interest, has lead you to look up Firewire as well. The two are similar in some respects, particularly some of the products that use the two technologies. However, Firewire has its differences, which means it has both benefits and drawback when compared to USB. This Tekspek will look at Firewire and also look at it with respect to USB.

In computing terms, system buses are used to connect various components to the motherboard’s core logic and, often, to each other. Modern PCs run with a multitude of high-speed buses ranging from the interconnects between, say, the chipset and the CPU, graphics card, memory, and peripherals.

NZXT IU01 USB Expansion gives you 6 Internal and 2 External USB's is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from NZXT IU01 USB My motherboard only has one internal USB2 header which is used for the external USB2 case headers. I needed more internal USB2 ports for the Corsair Link and a front bay Card Reader. This card solved that problem. It comes with two 'Velcro' self adhesive strips, so that it can be mounted inside your case where ever you need it. So plenty of expansion USB2 ports internally, and worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says Easy to install. I had no need for the 2 external USB Ports but the Internal ones where just the ticket. I hooked up the Corsair link, NZXT Hue and the Aquaero XT which freed up my front panel USB internal connector to the mobo. Be aware of power connecting when deciding to find a home for it as you need to factor in the length of cable. I wouldn't use it to connect USB ports as it may slow the transfer speed due to multiple information on one output to the mobo. However, a must have piece of kit for modding your PC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nifty Idea Great little product. After a recent build with various card readers and corsair link gadgets, I rapidly became aware that the single USB2 mobo header (X99) just wasn't going to be enough for all my gadgets!! This is perfect, neat, discreet (the velcro is a nice touch) solution for getting all those legacy devices connected :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Piece of kit Does exactly what it says it should do - gives you 3 additional internal and two external style USB 2 connections. If you add an all in one SD card reader to your system then this piece of kit can give you the additional ports you need to connect it up internally :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little USB 2.0 Header extension If you're in a but of a jam and your motherboard has only one USB 2.0 headers which most manufacturers are leaning towards these days, then this product is for you. My case comes with a double row of USB ports at the front of the case coupled with CorsairLink you're looking at three USB 2.0 Header cable. This product comes with three USB 2.0 Header sockets and two USB 2.0 ports for extra storage for a USB pen drive or thumb drive.

Questions & Answers

Is it possible to daisy chain these together?

Asked by: shafiq
Not daisy chain, but you can install them separately. You just need another molex connector from your PSU to supply power to the USB card, which has a molex to 3 pin connector on the card itself. I find the extra 3 USB ports is enough to connect up 3 extra internal USB devices. Plus you can also install 2 x USB flash drives if you need to, but I don't really see the need for that.
