The Launchkey mini is made for people who need to get great ideas down fast no matter where you are, especially if you work with Ableton. Plug in via USB and the launchkeys 16 velocity- sensitive pads and 8 assignable knobs come alive, giving you hands on capability and full control over your Mix. The fun isn’t only for Ableton with Novations incontrol software you can take charge of all other major music software.
Keys 25 mini keys, this synth-style keyboard is lightweight and made with moving around on stage or in the studio in mind.
Knobs and Buttons In a modern music studio doing it all is not uncommon and doing it quickly is preferred. Launchkey has everything you need to make music including 8 assignable knobs that you can assign to synth parameters, volume faders or even send and return. For those using Ableton you get instant blue hand access and can use your 8 knobs in any of the instrument or audio effect racks you build. There is also transport control so no more digging for a mouse or breaking the musician flow. You can also use the 16 RGB for drums, sample slices or for special duties inside your DAW.
Playing with Ableton The Launchkey was designed from the ground up to give you full control over Ableton Live. It becomes apparent straight away when you move knobs and faders and things start moving around in your Ableton Session immediately. Using the RGB pads means you can visually see what is happening in your session matrix or use them as drum pads with instant visual feedback.
Launchkey also works with other DAWs and you can have the same mixer with faders setup, pads for drums or sample slices and encoders to control key parameters of your favourite virtual instruments. You just have to engage INCONTROL and away you go.
Portability and connections The Launchkey is USB powered so you can take it anywhere your laptop goes. Its lightweight at only 1.09kg so great for gigs or even moving around the studio.

You've probably read the USB Tekspek, and perhaps your intrigue, or product interest, has lead you to look up Firewire as well. The two are similar in some respects, particularly some of the products that use the two technologies. However, Firewire has its differences, which means it has both benefits and drawback when compared to USB. This Tekspek will look at Firewire and also look at it with respect to USB.
System Buses & Bandwidth
Date Issued: 21st Oct 2008
In computing terms, system buses are used to connect various components to the motherboard’s core logic and, often, to each other. Modern PCs run with a multitude of high-speed buses ranging from the interconnects between, say, the chipset and the CPU, graphics card, memory, and peripherals.
