Combining a massive six heatpipe dual radiator design with an exquisite NF-P14/NF-P12 dual fan configuration, the NH-D14 is built for ultimate quiet cooling performance.
Topped off with a tube of Noctua's award-winning NT-H1 thermal compound as well as the new SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system, the NH-D14 is an elite choice for the highest demands in premium quality quiet cooling. FeaturesSix heatpipe dual radiator design Providing more surface area, better heat-distribution and superior airflow efficiency than conventional tower style heatsinks, the NH-D14s six heatpipe dual radiator design was developed to provide ultimate quiet cooling performance in dual fan mode.
Dual NF-P14/NF-P12 fan setup The NH-D14 sports a premium quality dual fan setup consisting of Noctua's award-winning NF-P12 (120mm) and NF-P14 (140mm) fans, both of which feature Vortex-Control Notches, SCD technology and SSO-Bearings in order to achieve a perfect balance of performance and quietness.
Asymmetrical design for high compatibility An asymmetrical design that gives more clearance towards the RAM slots ensures good compatibility despite of the coolers size. The NF-P12 fan can be moved upwards or left off in order to further improve compatibility.
Excellent component cooling Hanging out at the bottom of the fin-stacks, the NF-P14 fan doesn't only contribute to the NH-D14s superb CPU cooling capabilities but also provides massive airflow over surrounding motherboard components and heatsinks, thus ensuring excellent component cooling performance.
SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system Noctua's enthusiast grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting provides broad socket compatibility (LGA1366, LGA11/50/51/55/56, LGA775, AM2, AM2+ and AM3) and meets the highest demands in safety, contact pressure and ease-of-use.
NT-H1 thermal compound Noctua's much-acclaimed NT-H1 is a well proven pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease-of-use and outstanding reliability.

Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe)
Date Issued: 20th Oct 2008
The purpose of this TekSpek is to delineate the publicly known features of Intel’s next generation desktop microarchitecture. Codenamed Conroe and officially titled Intel Core 2 Duo, it’s loosely based on the current mobile Yonah (Core Duo) underpinnings.
This TekSpek explains what AMD’s AMD64 CPU instruction set architecture (ISA) is, shows what CPUs implement it from both AMD and Intel, and explains what software is available to run on those 64-bit consumer processors.
The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.
There’s been a lot of hype about Intel’s Core 2 recently, even since they launched Core in fact. Words like Conroe, Badaxe and Allendale have been flying around. The bottom line is that Core 2 is the name of Intel’s latest line of CPUs, based on a new micro-architecture, designed for speed and efficiency.
Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.

Reliable air cooling max 30c over ambientThis product delivers CPU cooling at max temps of 30c over ambient un-overclocked on i7 4790 (one of the hottest chips Intel ever made, behind the 4770). It is quiet but effective and works best in a wind tunnel style case airflow setup, reducing temps even further.

The Noctua NH-D14 has been perfect! So far, so good.
Why did i need this? My PC was overheating whilst streaming for long periods of times and i tried out Corsair's Liquid coolers (it leaked..), got recommended to look at Noctua...and now i wont look back.
It keeps it at fan-tastic *cough* temperatures.

Big and effectiveThis is a great cpu cooler. My 4790K never goes above 40 degrees on full load thanks to the Noctua, which I actually downvolted using the provided cables, meaning that I could hit even lower temps if I wanted to! On top of that it is very quiet, even on full load. My only reserve is that the manual did not explain installation for LGA1150 ports, so I had to search the internet to understand how to install it. The installation wasn't exactly simple and it would have been better if the manual was clearer and covered all supported CPU formats, but everything is forgotten once the Noctua starts working so effectively. However, the cooler is very big so double check that it can fit both in your case and on your motherboard: On my MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo the noctua makes access to the RAM very difficult and cuts access to one of the PCI ports. Not an issue for me as I doubt i'll ever use it. Overall, a very effective cooler at a friendly price.

Excellent coolerThis is one of the best CPU coolers I have used. It keeps my i7-6700K below 55 degrees while at 100% use 24 hours a day with a mild overclock. I would recommend it for anybody using a high end processor.

Big and ColdUpgraded to this from the stock Intel heatsink and the difference is astounding.
At idle and low loads with the fans off my CPU(i5-2400) is sitting comfortably below 40 degrees, and under load with fan control barely scrapes 50. It's possibly overkill for my system but it does the job great.
The fans are dead silent up to around 60%, but get loud fairly quickly after that with 100% making a noticeable rushing sound.
This cooler is Big, so getting into my mATX system was a challenge, but it fits in nicely.
Overall would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a high tier CPU cooler.

Good quality build but with no fan speed control pinGood heat sink and overall build quality. The instruction is clear and accessories are plenty. If you are like me looking for a quiet experience will be disappointed. This fan has only 3 pin connector to the motherboard, missing the 4th pin, which controls the fan speed. This means it runs on max constantly, and the noise is non-negligible.

The best Air cooler on the market to dateThe NHD-14 has one of the best CPU cooler mounting system I've ever seen on a CPU cooler makes it so easy to fit.
The fans are very quiet and easily beats other CPU cooler in the sheer cooling power
I highly recommend it

A truly high quality cooler with a great life potentialI have had this trusty cooler for over 2 years so far. It is a monster in size and cooling capability.
Noctua is an excellent brand with great support from the company post sales. For instance if a new CPU socket is released that is not compatible with the originals provided, if contacted Noctua will send them at a reduced rate and a reasonable delivery cost and sometimes free of charge completely.
It is as mentioned quite large, much larger than standard HSF assemblies by far. This does mean it has an excellent cooling capability and combined with the two large fans it is extremely silent as to be expected from Noctua.
It is a long lasting cooler and it should (such as for myself) last for quite a few years as the quality is exceptional as well as the design.
It is not really worth it for standard users due to its very high price point, but as an addition to an overclocker's setup, I definitely recommend it. Currently my i7 2600k is highly overclocked and it is kept nicely below 60°C even though my CPU is operating at 5GHz. Of course I do not endorse overclocking as this will void your warranty but it can be extremely cost effective to bring a standard i7 to the level of its i7 Extreme counterpart for little additional cost and as said the HSF will last quite a few generations.
Probably far to late to answer your question but anyway.
Yes it does support socket 1150
