MSI X470 GAMING M7 AC, AMD X470, S AM4, DDR4, SATA3, Dual M.2, 2-Way SLi/3-Way CrossFire, GbE/WiFi, USB3.1 Gen2 A+C, ATX is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic performance with a tasteful and stylish look. I bought this board after my B350M board developed a fault, and it has been my first board over £100. This board has the feel of a premium product while unboxing, with more accessories than you will ever need all in flat black and high quality materials used throughout the packaging and accessories. Unwrapping the board itself shows a full matte black PCB with black and dark grey covers and heatsinks, as well as the silver accents from the ram and pci-e slots. Together with the minimal and tasteful RGB LEDs along the edge and back of the board, it has a subtle but stylish look to it, which can be complemented with extra RGB components and mods or left plain and look just as good. As for performance, it has not missed a beat in the past 4 months of use. I have paired this board with an AMD 1700X and Vega 64, with an EVGA 750 P2 Power supply. I have a fairly bad sample CPU, but this board has managed to achieve a slightly higher overclock of 3.9Ghz at 1.35V for everyday use. Pushing it further I managed to achieve 4Ghz but not perfectly stable, however on my previous board I would struggle similarly at 3.95Ghz. VRM temps are also no longer a worry, as previously they would hit over 100C alarmingly fast. I have had more success with RAM on this board then previously. I am currently using some corsair 2400Mhz sticks which have been set to 3000Mhz and run stable without altering any timings or voltages in BIOS. I had plenty of trouble on my last board trying to run some 3200Mhz rated Adata sticks at 3000Mhz with the same CPU. The bios has also improved since I purchased the board. There is now support for voltage offset, which was missing from MSI boards for some time. There is a slew of overclocking features on the board which I have not used yet as well as some nice useful features should the need arise. The best example of this is the cmos clear button on the back, and the Flashback+ feature, which allows you to update BIOS without a cpu installed (could be very useful with upcoming releases)! With other aspects of the board, it has all worked as you wouyld expect a premium motherboard to do. Plenty of Sata slots, M.2 NVME drives running at maximum speed and enough fan headers for all my fans. The bluetooth and wifi works well, I have not had any issues since I installed the board and windows automatically installed drivers. My only criticisms of this board are the diagnostic LEDs and the Mystic light software. Using the latest software, there is no way to turn off the green, red and white LEDs showign the user which fan headers are in use, what overclocking method is used and the red motherboard segment display showing codes. The board has a very handy corsair rgb header, however the controls in Mystic light for control of RGB strips are minimal, and there is no way for me to set one colour with a breathing effect as I desired, or to have many of the usual RGB settings. It mostly has preset rainbow wave and pulse settings. If better support could be added in a future update to Mystic light it would greatly improve the usefulness of this motherboard header. The motherboard LEDs work great however, no complaints there. To summarize, I think this is a fantastic board that does everything you would want a high end board to do while looking great. It has a couple annoying shortcomings in its lighting software but otherwise it has been everything I would want in a motherboard, all at a slightly lower price than it's competitors at the time of my purchase.
