I am building a new pc and i just wish to know can i put this on a new drive as a full install the drive is brand new its ssd or do i need win8 first i am not a system builder just build my own hope you can help and thanks for your time.
There shouldn't be any problems. OEM discs are for building, repairing or upgrading computers.
If your hard drive is formatted for Windows, it's good to go.
The unique installation key code [COA] is on the inside blue wallet with the disc in it.
You can also use the OEM disc for any 8.1 [64 bit] re-installation or repair if you have it's original key code [COA sticker] on the computer case.
This key code is not transferrable between machines. Easy money for MS. Keep your COA safe!
When you first boot your new pc you will get taken to the BIOS screen.
Put this CD in and reboot computer and it should install.
Use XP or Windows 7 until Windows 9 is released and reviewed; then decide.
This means if you had windows 8, you would update to 8.1 for free.
If you buy this version, its already windows 8.1 so you wont need to get the update off the Microsoft website.
Long story short, you do not need to buy windows 8 to use this product, it has it included.
8.1 SHOULD JUST COME IN A SLEEVE OR I THINK YOU CAN BUY IT ON A USB STICK OR DOWNLOAD IT - HOPE THAT HELPS
PS one thing to note is that the original machine needs to be 64bit compatible which this particular DVD, check the motherboard manufactures site for information. There are 32bit DVD versions available.
YOU WILL NEED AN i3 CPU TO RUN 8.1 - APART FROM THAT VERY STABLE - WORKS REALLY WELL WITH A TOUCH SCREEN - HAD PROBLEMS RUNNING 8.1 ON AN SSD - SO NOW RUNNING ON NORMAL HARD DRIVE - HOPE THAT HELPS
Yes but you will be upgraded to an OEM version of Windows 10.
YES - BUT I THINK THERE WILL BE AN ISSUE WITH UPGRADES TO WINDOWS 10 IF YOU BUY WINDOWS 8.1 AND THEN DO THE FREE UPGRADE - SO IF YOU ARE GOING TO UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10 I WOULD BUY WINDOWS 10 TO START WITH - I HAVE WINDOWS 8.1 AND AM NOT GOING TO UPGRADE - NEXT COMPUTER WILL BE WINDOWS 10 THOUGH
HOPE THAT HELPS
As you can tell by the fact I was using PCPP, I'm building my own PC.
Does this mean that the OEM edition won't work for me?
Thanks in advance.
SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM - YOU WILL NEED A i3 AS MINIMUM SPEC - I HAD PROBLEMS RUNNING IT OFF A SSD - SO NOW RUNNING OFF A NORMAL SATA HARD DRIVE - WORKS FINE
