Product Overview For PCs with PCI Express (PCIe*) slots, the Intel® Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter offers the newest technology for maximizing system performance and increasing end-user productivity.

Specifically, the Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter uses auto-negotiation to ensure the adapter runs at the highest available network speed (10, 100, or 1000 Mbps), and it maintains full bandwidth capacity with the dedicated bandwidth of a PCI Express input/output (I/O) bus to provide connectivity you can count on.

Based on the low-power Intel® 82574L Gigabit Ethernet Controller, this desktop adapter offers optimal performance in a low-cost, low-power, compact profile. Teaming support and an array of other advanced features enable customers to utilize this adapter as an entry-level server adapter as well.

As a growing number of homes contain more than one computer, their users must find ways to network them. The primary purpose for creating a home network tends to be to provide Internet access to all computers within the house. There are other good reasons, however. These include enabling LAN gaming, data backups from one machine to another and the sharing of music within the home.

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dependable performance & compatibility Huge fan of intel NIC's, always good driver support and excellent performance versus onboard chips or other, lesser brands. Brought these 2 to fix compatability issues with onboard chipsets and they work flawlessly. No more Windows netio induced crashes from bad drivers. Always been a fan of genuine Intel cards for servers and these desktop cards have only re-inforced my view that Intel network chips are the best. 06 April 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by It's all good It works exaxctly as expected and required. I'm running opensuse 12.3 (X86-64) on an AMD system 13 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by It's a network card ! Nothing special a NIC is a NIC but the purchasing was easy, the tech support great and the delivery very, very quick and recorded to the second. We need 2 cards quick, Scan were lighteningly quick and efficient. I would use Scan again for the great level of service and speedy dispatch, something that is difficult to find these days with hardware suppliers. 09 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good reliable NIC I find these Intel NICs to be highly reliable and they perform well also. The integrated networking on many motherboards is often inferior, the FreeBSD people always recommend using a dedicated NIC, and they have particularly choice words about Realtek controllers in particular. Windows users should be concerned about this, because problems with the hardware always lead to problems with the software. These Intel Gigabit NICs have never let me down and they're worth the investment in my opinion, it means one less thing to have to worry about when diagnosing faults. 16 July 2015
