Insta360 Pro 2: 8K-Per-Eye 3D VR 360 Video
Limited Time BundleSave big on this bundle from Scan Pro Video, with 6 128 microSD cards included with your Insta360 Pro 2.
Changes are hereThe Insta360 Pro revolutionised the 360-camera game on a professional level, completely outdoing the previous Nokia Ozo in both performance and price. It has become a fast favourite amongst those within the industry, giving an easy and streamlined workflow into the world of professional 360 video. Now, Insta360 are back, with the Insta360 Pro 2, bringing innovations and improvements to their original camera.
8K 360 ImagesUtilising the six cameras fitted around it to shoot 8K VR video, the Insta360 Pro 2 brings 8K-per-eye when viewed in headsets. Capturing every angle, the videos and photos shot on the Pro 2 are then combined into two 8K 360 images, creating a truly absorbing and immersive experience in detailed 3D VR.

Workflow Made Easier
Integration with AdobeInsta360 have been working directly with Adobe to integrate and improve 360-workflows into their software. With one of the more recent updates to Adobe’s Premiere Pro CC, they introduced a full suite of VR tools for users to take full advantage of and with Insta360’s algorithm, it begins to take the stress of 360 video editing away in a big way.
Low-Res ProxyThe Insta360 Pro 2 takes six microSD cards to capture the footage in the highest of quality from each camera fitted on the unit, with a seventh saved solely for low-res proxy files and metadata that usually get lost in the mix on other high-end 360 cameras that rely on one SD Card. (You can also record directly to an external SSD for longer videos)
AlgorithmsOnce ready to edit, you import from the Insta360 and Premiere will pull in the low-res proxy files so that you aren’t dealing with full whack 8K or 4K footage on the timeline, bogging down the PC while trying to do quick edits or even longer, more in-depth videos. Once you’ve gotten everything right, during the export process, Insta360’s algorithm takes over and highlights what high resolution clips need to be used. No extra processing, no wasted time or effort, the Insta360 algorithm stitches only what got used in the edit.
DownloadThe Insta360 proxy-editing plug in is available for download via Insta360’s official website. It also works on Version 2 and above of the Insta360 Pro’s firmware.
Go Live and RecordWhen livestreaming via the Insta360 Pro 2, users can now broadcast in both monoscopic and stereoscopic at full 4K resolution. While you stream, you can set the Pro 2 to record in 8K, so whatever you’ve been streaming can become full-quality 8K for video-on-demand services in an edit later on.
To go live, you can either choose to stream from the built-in server on the Insta360 Pro 2 or go via a custom server. There's also the option to send the live feed over HDMI. The Pro 2 also supports different modes for photo and video, including Single Shot, Burst and Time-Lapse. All photos and videos are saved in either JPG or DNG and MP4.
GPS Built In
Google Maps ReadyWhen livestreaming via the Insta360 Pro 2, users can now broadcast in both monoscopic and stereoscopic at full 4K resolution. While you stream, you can set the Pro 2 to record in 8K, so whatever you’ve been streaming can become full-quality 8K for video-on-demand services in an edit later on.
FarSight Wireless Monitoring
Cut Through the NoiseFilming from a distance so that huge gear, people and other obscuring objects is always a challenge with Wi-Fi enabled monitoring, especially on a set or location when there’s bound to be other signals interfering, it can become unreliable. Insta360 were very aware of this and have equipped the Pro 2 with Farsight technology, enabling 360 monitoring with high-definition, low-latency video streams that is designed and optimised for busy or long-distance previewing.
When attached with transmitter and receiver, you can control the INsta360 Pro 2 from a distance of up to 300 meters, at 5.18Ghz, the Farsight will change channels depending on the signal noise in the area, giving you a clear cut through to the Pro 2 regardless of your surroundings.
Gimbal-LikeIn addition to Farsight, Insta360 have developed FlowState Stabilisation, bringing a new level of stabilisation to high-end 360-cameras. No longer do you need large gear to stabilise and produce post-production headaches. With FlowState, the Pro 2 reaches gimbal-level stabilisation with absolutely no need for extra gear. Utilising an ultra-precise gyroscope on all nine axes and Insta360’s software, this gives creators the option to be as granular as they want with stabilisation.
With this level of stabilisation in place, the things that can be created with the Insta360 Pro 2 can become far more experimental, without the fear of making audiences sick.
VR on another LevelHow do you share 8K-per-eye VR content, when there isn’t one available to the mainstream audiences just yet? Through Insta360’s app, you can begin sharing to mainstream smartphones and headsets (Vive, Oculus Rift and Go), which will dynamically render files to only display small segments of the full 8K image until they look around it to load in the new segments.

Scan Pro Video Recommends
Get the right storageThe Insta360 Pro 2 requires six high class, V30 rated SD Cards, which is why we recommend SanDisk's Extreme PRO V30 A1 and A2 rated cards. These cards provide enough speed to capture the 360 files the camera produces, while being slow enough to parse, write and not lose frames in the process of the data being written. You'll also need a large, proxy file holding SD card, which is why we suggest using the full sized varient of the Extreme Pro.
