Does its job
As others have said, do not need the extensive blue flashy lights, box is larger than it needs to be and its overly expensive.
Saying that it works fine and the larger box serves to sit monitor on top, so takes up no extra desktop for me to house a dvd r/w in a compact intel NUC system.

Crikey! Not as described, or as photographed
I wasn't too excited about buying this thing, anyway. Blue lights are kinda naff looking.
If one looks at the images of this product, the corner posts and end caps look metal. You can see knurling on the top caps that. You can see how shiny and reflective the metal is. Look at how the blue light is evenly distributed across the side and front.
In reality, the corner posts are plastic that the blue light glows through. The end caps are plastic covered with a thin sheet of metal, no knurling. Careful with the edges of the end caps, they're sharp. The blue light strips are bubbled plastic tubes, lit from one end.
The only metal parts on this enclosure are the grilles, maybe the top and bottom panels, and the screws. The rest is tacky looking plastic.
It's also much bigger than it really needs to be. much of the extra space is occupied by the LED lighting.
The drive is mounted about 1.5cm back from the front of the box, to make room for the lights, which means less space to insert the disk.
Oh! the blue lights strobe when the disc is being read. Great! The good thing is, the lights can be easily disconnected.
Honestly, I wish I'd have spent a few extra quid on something else.

No internal power or data cables
Purchased this product recently and on arrival discoverd that there were no internal power or data cables supplied to connect the internal circuit board to any eSATA drive. Searched the internet but have no joy in sourcing the 4 pin power cable. If i cant source the device will be sent back. Any advise on power cables is greatly accepted.

The only 5.25 external SATA case available?
This is the only SATA external USB external case I could find to hold an optical drive. New laptops rarely have optical drives in them, so this for me is essential.
The unit is badly made, one of the top screws was cross threaded, the front flap needed adjusting by twisting the case to stop it sticking open.
It has some blue LED lamps in it extended around the side of the body via clear plastic rods inside the mesh. These are most annoying as they flash when the drive is working in time with the data stream like a HDD indicator, but much larger and brighter. I've disconnected them.
The case does work, it's supplied with an eSATA cable, (no use to me) and a reasonably long A to B USB 3 cable. It seems to have a good quality external power supply. It also has an on/off switch fitted at the rear
With the LEDs working it's garishly annoying, with them disconnected it looks reasonable and does the job. I hope the not inexpensive price was spent on the electronics, not the casework
So far that's how it seems.
Buy it if you like bling, I just needed something to hold a high quality optical drive externally with USB connection.
I've said no to the "would you recommend this product" button, but that's my opinion, others may love it?
If you can find a simple alternative at a more reasonable price, go for it. If not you are stuck with the Icybox.

Build Quality not equal to the price tag
This is pretty much the only external/USB3 enclosure for 5.25 drives I could find. Pretty easy to install a drive, the enclosure is a lot bigger than you'd expect. My came with one of the pads for the fee missing so it wobbles around on the desk. Overall the build quality is not great for the price and simple nature of the product, but seems to work. I wouldn't want to cart it around much though.
