Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top of range VR experience but need extra components to get full benefit This is high-end VR. When set up properly, putting on the headset is almost like entering another world due to the resolution and spectacular OLED type internal displays. However, it's not like Google Cardboard and smartphones. This setup requires 2 base stations and ideally 1+ controller to get the motion working. You can buy the whole lot in one package via the non-Pro version of HTC Vive at lower cost but it has other limitations. You need a PC will a high-end graphics card, e.g. NVidia 1080 or an eGPU. I run mine from an eGPU (Aorus Gamebox) via a full Thunderbolt port. The PC's CPU should be at least 4 cores in the i5, i7 bracket. If using a Thunderbolt connector to eGPU then ensure that port is a real Thunderbolt and not USB-C. Mac Users are not well supported with VR generally at this time. I installed Windows BootCamp and Windows 10 on my Mac but driver issues led to installation failures. Others would seem to have it working on theirs. The advice here is that if you want VR, at time of writing, use a PC with Windows 10 unless you are technical and time-rich enough to get it working on a Mac.

If like me, no expensive is spared for top quality VR then this headset upgrade is for you Big improvement on headset comfort and fit adjustment with another big improvement on the headset headphones as well But there is no change to the annoying and cumbersome headset wires getting in your way, especially during intense VR action. Would like to see a 120 field of view upgrade on the next with wireless attachment and mic Only 4 stars, due to the high price for basically just a headset.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The best HMD available, for now. I've been using the Oculus Rift almost exclusively since the Touch controllers were released as they are far superior to the Vive wands. Now I'm tolerating the wands because the additional resolution makes such a difference. Without the deluxe strap, the OG Vive was a pain, the Pro is now much more comfortable and sturdy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good upgrade Ok if you have spare cash and well into vr I would defo Recommend this. One major thing from the vive to the pro is being able to read The writing clearly in vr. The clarity of games seems so much better and you soon get use to the display. I switched back to the vive after playing in vr for a while and you Defo notice a difference. Very good sound with the built in headset. Take the plunge you will not be disappointed.

Wireless or wired

In all the footage I can find of the Vive Pro there are no wires attached to the headset, but I also hear mention of a wireless adapter. Can I get a clear answer on whether the Vive Pro is truly wireless or requires an additional cost of an extra adapter.

You will be able to buy both the vive pro and the wireless device as part of a bundle when it comes out so a lot of people are waiting until then so they don't have to pay a separate price like you have to do with tpcast defo struggling with the patience might have to try the gear lens mod,,,,

Will there be new controllers and base stations for this unit latter in the year?

I already own the original HTC Vive VR headset along with the base stations and controllers. I am wondering if there are going to be new versions of the base stations and controllers latter on in the year? Also when will the wireless version be released?

The full kit is now available in China and the US, it should be available here soon. The wireless kit should be here by the end of the year, the estimated Q3.

HTC Vive Base Stations fully compatibility with HTC Vive Pro? YES or NO?

The new HTC Vive Pro Virtual Reality Headset, 2880 x 1600 is "just what the doctor ordered" as they say. Can I take it that my original Base Stations are compatible and will work with this new headset? I know this is what the blurb says but I need you to confirm it. Secondly, purely for a matter of interest, all of my games, in particular, "Vanishing Realms" will now work in 2880 x 1600 or will we all have to wait until the compatible games come out?
