Product Overview
"We knew that when the man who designed the the Adam A7X makes a new speaker, it was always going to be good, but no-one at Scan expected just how good these are!. They easily stand up to monitors more than twice the price, this is one of the most exceptional speakers we've ever tried out for small studios. The sound signature is truly neural and the response is extremely linear, especially when you consider these are less than £750 a pair. The biggest surprise was that the signature of the 05 and the 07 is identical, apart from the extra couple of notes of sub extension of the 07. The front facing ports also make the Type 05 especially suitable for small studio spaces and come with the solidest possible recommendation from the Scan Pro Audio team"
HEDD (Heinz Electrodynamic Designs) was established in 2015 by Klaus Heinz and his son Frederik Knop. For the last 40 years Klaus has been commited to the development of high-end speakers which can be found in a diverse range of applictions from recording studios, mastering suites, broadcast and Hi-Fi. Klaus founded the well known ADAM Audio and served as Managing Director and Head of R&D until recently. Now we get to see the fruits of HEDD's labour with the Type 05 and Type 07 nearfields.
Featuring a unibody cabinet construction, custom designed woofer, Air Motion Transformer (AMT) and revolutionary HEDD Bridge the range is shaping up to be something special indeed.
The Ultimate Multitasker
The Type 05 model is a real multitasker. Its strong performance, digital connectivity, and compact size turn it into the ideal choice for mobile broadcast stations, recording studios, multichannel-setups, and VoIP conferences. The Type 05 is based on a 2-way-system that provides a solid fundament and a high degree of accuracy in the frequency range between 45Hz and 50kHZ by coordinating the interplay between a 6“-woofer and a high-resolution Air Motion Transformer (HEDD AMT).
• 1) HEDD Bridge: Inputcard-slot for digital connectivity (available: Dante & AES67, AES3, USB2)
• 2) Low Shelf filter: ± 2dB at 200Hz // ± 4dB at 50Hz
• 3) High Shelf filter: ± 2dB at 5kHz // ± 4dB at 20kHz
• 4) Gain: Variable input gain between – 30dB and + 6dB, 0 dB = 440mV (-4.9dBu, -7.1dBV) input voltage deliver 90dB SPL (1m); Input Gain = 0dB
• 5) Source: 3-Position slide switch for input selection: Left: HEDD Bridge, Center: RCA (Cinch), Right: XLR
• 6) Unbalanced RCA (Cinch) input
• 7) Balanced XLR input
• 8) Power connection: All HEDD monitors come with regulated Universal Mains, working from 85V-264V. Regulated means that our amps will work at their full capacity under any condition.
This combination of unique and expertly chosen components and analog filters as well as our longstanding experience in attuning these various components to perfectly complement each other results in a nearly linear frequency response and an outstanding signal fidelity of HEDD’s studio monitors. And there is more: Perhaps the greatest highlight that our new models come with is the input-card system that can be found on each monitor’s back panel: our three optionally obtainable HEDD Bridge modules allow our loudspeakers to read either AES3/EBU or – and this is a truly innovative – even the newest Audio-over-IP protocols like Dante Audio or Ravenna Network/AES67. In the course of 2016, we will in addition introduce USB2 and Wireless cards in order to further optimize your audio workspace and make our products future-proof in every aspect.
Audio Over IP
The Future of Multi-Channel High Resolution Audio
Type 05 is, like all of our Series ONE studio monitors, additionally equipped with a modular connection system. Besides standard analog XLR and RCA connections, the Type 05 features an empty card slot that we have specifically designed to read AES3/EBU, Dante, or Ravenna Network (AES67) input cards.
HEDD Bridge System
Advanced Connectivity
Today, a number of digital protocols have become established constants in various audio sectors. While they certainly exhibit different advantages, they all essentially focus on the transportation of audio signals. In order to secure an ideal – future-oriented, safe, and flexible – integration of our HEDD studio monitors in digitally based work-spaces, we developed our very own modular input-card system, the HEDD Bridge. The HEDD Bridge was inspired by the rather simple and yet absolutely vital idea that our speakers should feature a freely configurable system that, being located on the back panel of each monitor, allows for the integration of a digital audio protocol.
The diverse range of our HEDD Bridge modules ensures that we can provide solutions for many platforms. At the moment, we offer modules that can integrate AES3/EBU as well as modules that can – and this is unheard of – read Audio-over-IP protocols such as Dante and Ravenna Network/AES67 (in the course of 2016, we will in addition introduce input-cards that can integrate USB2 and Wireless). Not unlike many other renowned manufacturers in the professional audio sector, we are convinced that Ethernet-based multi-channel systems are the future of the studio, live music, and installation sector. While Audio-over-IP has by now become more and more prominent in mix-down, interface, and microphone technologies, this development has yet to reach the level of studio monitors. The HEDD Bridge is the first system to close this gap.
