The Ultimate Audiophile Package
The Pinnacle of audio technologyScan Pro Audio is proud to present the ultimate audiophile bundle, a true gateway to uncovering new depths to music referencing/listening.
Comprised of the ‘Heddphone’ from German audio luminaries Hedd, and the ADI-2 DAC from RME Audio, this bundle reveals new depths to audio, previous to which have remained hidden and unheard. This bundle represents the pinnacle of audio technology.
Hedd Audio - Heddphone
The last word in headphones The term “endgame” in the audiophile headphone world describes a final set of headphones that a listener can enjoy for the rest of their lives, providing as much detail and accuracy as they would ultimately be happy with.
For many listeners, the HEDDphones will be their ultimate goal, as they herald frankly, a quantum leap in headphone audio signal reproduction and a possible end to a quest for an almost existential, out-of-body experience in music listening.
The speed that their custom driver travels is much faster than other competing technologies, so they are able to reproduce audio signals incredibly accurately, with what we at Scan can only describe as a “soundstage so wide, it seems to disappear at the horizon”.
Separation between individual sounds & instruments and transient detail are excellent, as is the build quality, comfort and weight distribution, which is fortunate as at over 700 grams, you will certainly notice you are wearing them, even if your hearing gives the feeling of the musicians actually being in the room with you.
'HEDDphones' in the Studio
Can Tom Mix With Them?HEDD's HEDDphones are a sonic quantum leap in headphone technology, based around the first ever full range AMT driver that could be described as endgame to many listeners. Tom finds out if can you actually mix on them and what kit would you need to get the best results from them in the studio.
Revolutionary AMT Technology
breakthrough technology insideThe Air Motion Transformer (AMT) is an electrodynamic transducer that allows air to move significantly faster than common voice coil, magnetostatic (planar) or electrostatic systems. Their traditional piston-like movement is overcome by a folded diaphragm that squeezes out air four times faster: A breakthrough for capturing more details in a musical recording.
30 years ago HEDD CEO and Chief Engineer Klaus Heinz designed the first compact and marketable AMT tweeter based on Oskar Heil’s original Air Motion Transformer invention. Since then he has increased its sonic quality in several fundamental revisions. The 2019 version of the AMT can be heard in HEDD´s innovative Series ONE studio monitor line.
“With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility”
the ultimate headphone experienceScan recommends that you recall the above Spiderman quote as a mantra when music listening with Heddphones, in that you must think that to date, no music has yet been mixed or mastered on these headphones, so details may be apparent that even the artists, producers or engineers may have never heard. These are headphones that will show up every detail including seemingly hidden flaws and errors in a take or mix.
They are best described as brutally honest, providing absolutely no flattery or forgiveness for poor or aging recordings. Your favourite compositions might not be presented in the way you remember, the truth it would seem, can sometimes hurt.
The HEDDphones certainly do benefit from and will make full use of a decent DAC or headphone amp, such as the ones below...
Accurate, Untamed, and Touching Music Reproduction
hear everything...and more More recently Heinz has focused on developing a full range Air Motion Transformer to break new grounds for this superior transducer principle. In order to reproduce the complete audible frequency band (and beyond), the HEDDphone incorporates VVT® (pat. pending).
VVT introduces a new diaphragm geometry that expands the AMT principle to a linear full range (10Hz–40kHz) headphone transducer. It replaces the fixed geometric structure of conventional AMT drivers as the folds vary both in width and depth. The HEDDphone introduces a fourth transducer technology.
It brings the enormous dynamic capabilities and the superior sonic resolution of the AMT principle to the world of top-end headphones. HEDDphone excels where it really matters: in accurate, untamed, and touching music reproduction.

The Ultimate DAC
Nothing comes close Inside the compact 19” format factor, the ADI-DAC 2 is packed with only the highest quality electronic components, which acts as a reference class conversion from SPDIF coaxial, SPDIF optical (ADAT compatible) and USB to RCA, XLR, TRS and mini-TRS.
The ADI-2 DAC is the most versatile DAC on the market, it offers balanced/unbalanced analogue I/O’s, an ‘Extreme Power’ headphone output, an incredibly super low noise IEM out, SteadyClock FS, 4-stage hardware output level control, DSP based signal processing, external power supply operation, Class Compliant USB compatibility, sample rates up to 768 kHz as well as DSD and Direct DSD playback. Nothing else comes close.
Super Low Noise For IEM lovers
Super low noise floor
The dawn of the headphone revolution brought not only headphones, but IEM’s to the forefront for audiophiles and music aficionados alike. Today’s IEM’s have a reference that can compete with traditional over-ear headphones, which make them not just an alternative for when you’re on the go, but also for home use.
Modern day IEM’s are super sensitive and run on extremely low voltages. The downside to this is that they pickup the noise floor of the source. When RME was developing it’s ‘Extreme Power’ headphone stage, great care and attention was paid to ensure the noise floor was as low as possible. RME wanted to ensure that even the most sensitive IEM, coupled with the most sensitive listener’s ear could enjoy the whole dynamic range upon playback.
The solution? Adding the most advanced IEM output possible as second phones connection to the front panel of the ADI-2 DAC. The resulting playback must be heard to be believed.
Hit The Lights!
If a studio converter’s display had all display lighting off, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was faulty. However, on a DAC it was one of the most requested features RME received from their ADI-2 Pro HiFi customers. The ADI-2 DAC’s display, function keys, volume knob and standby button all switch off after a period of 10 seconds of no user operation after ‘AutoDark’ mode is selected.
Using the ADI-2 DAC’s remote, ‘AutoDark’ mode can be selected on or off, and pressing any button turns the lighting on for 3 seconds. A cool feature for sure!
impressive new tech
The ADI-2 DAC marks a first for a product in RME’s range, as it is the first to feature SteadyClock FS. SteadyClock really couldn’t be improved upon much, it collected heaps of praise and accolades from years of sublime operation in a number of RME products, ensuring that using the internal clock will produce precisely the same sound as if an external one was to be used. SteadyClock expertly rejects jitter and handles all digital interface formats in a flawless manner. This is why SteadyClock’s design didn’t alter in the DAC.
SteadyClock FS focus was largely placed on reducing the self jitter of SteadyClock to new lows, by enhancing it’s second analogue PLL circuit, and referencing both Direct and Digital Synthesis and PLL to a low phase noise quartz crystal. The self jitter measured through DA conversion now reaches levels that are normally only available in master quartz clock mode, while SteadyClock still always runs in PLL mode – no matter if it's the internal or external clock, the sound is precisely the same.
The low phase noise oscillator which drives the updated circuit reaches jitter specs lower than a picosecond, something called, ‘Femtosecond’, hence the name ‘SteadyClock FS’.
