64 or 48 lanes, and their division

Gigabyte X399 DESIGNARE EX LN84980 The TR4 cpu I am looking at has 64 PCIe lanes (Ryzen 1920X or Ryzen 1950X) The Product Overview for the motherboard says : "64 lanes of incredible PCIe® 3.0 connectivity," under the Performance section it says: "4-Way Graphics with Premium 48 PCIe Lanes Bandwidth GIGABYTE X399 motherboards feature a unique PCI Express design that utilizes 100% of all 48 lanes from the CPU when in a 4-Way or 3-Way graphics configuration" This leaves me a little confused and in need of asking a couple of questions please. 1) Does this motherboard utilise all 64 PCIe lanes of the Ryzen 19n0X cpu's? 2) How are those lanes divided between the various PCIe sockets and the M.2 drives? I will be using 2-Way graphics configuration. Many thanks.

Thanks Luke, but having now found the PDF manual, it looks like it uses all 64, as follows : Slots PCIEX16_1 and PCIEX16_2 run at 16 lanes each Slots PCIEX8_1 and PCIEX8_2 run at 8 lanes each Slot PCIEX4 runs at 4 lanes that makes 32 + 16 + 4 = 52 the remaining 12 lanes supply the three M.2 slots, M2M_32G M2Q_32G and M2P_32G at 2 to 4 lanes each depending on the particular nvme. That makes a total of 52 + (6 to 12) = 58 to 64 lanes. What would be smart, and I thought it had when it said something about intelligent use of PCIe lanes, would be if it could automatically allocate the last 32 lanes of the 64. Ie, first two sockets runs at x16. If it detects an SLI third card, then give it another x16, rtaher than x8 for the third card and x8 for an empty socket. I'm not sure if they can do that or not, I think it's a bit more hardwired than that. Optician
