GameMax Mini Abyss, Black, MicroATX Chassis w/ Tempered Glass Window, 120mm ARGB Fan, USB 3.0, MicroATX/Mini-ITX is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from GameMax? more like, GameLittle Hi and thank you for reading my review of the GameMax Mini Abyss. I bought this case as a birthday present for my girlfriend to introduce her to gaming which seemed like an amazing idea to do, until i was presented with problems. TL:DR; The case would look nice if the infinity mirror worked, there is little room for cable management and the aRGB hub looks like it's asus only. Pros: - Nice tempered glass side panel. - A great idea of the front panel with the infinity mirror. (if it works) Cons: - aRGB is very cheap and delicate and components may not arrive. - You may need an ASUS motherboard just to change the lightings. - Non-removable HDD cage. - Poor cable management ideas. aRGB Lightings; 1) The GameMax Kamikaze case (The case which i bought a week ago for my cousin) arrived with no aRGB hub controller and when i spoke to SCAN about it, they told me that their supplier wasn't able to supply me with a HUB for two weeks +. This can happen but this was a major component of the case and i was unable to power any of the fans with the RGB functionality. This case, GameMax Mini Abyss actually came with an aRGB hub which was pleasant for me as i could actually power the 1 x 120mm aRGB fan and the and the fancy infinity mirror on the front. When i was plugging in the 3 pin controllers on the aRGB hub, i almost snapped the aura sync connector as it's very poorly designed and the slightest touch would snap it. Once i managed to wire the case and have it up and running, i noticed the front infinity mirror turning on, amazing! but, the fan on the back had no lights on, powered and connected through the same aRGB hub. I loaded up MSI Mystic Light to hopefully manage the RGB's on the RAM, GPU and the infinity mirror. To no prevail, i couldn't change the lights on the infinity mirror to the rainbow setting (which the picture advertises!) and when i changed the colour to blue, it changed to red? then when i changed it to green, it went to dark blue? i don't think this is a mystic light issue as the RAM and GPU was changing colours and that's MSI and Corsair. Build Quality; 2) The build quality of the case is very low but for the value of the case, i'd say it's average. The HDD case is riveted on so you can't cable management nicely, you would require a modular PSU or else you will run into cable management issues. The holes in the case to manage the 24 pin connector and the CPU power are in the wrong places, leading to bending cables in unorthodox positions. The width of the case is slightly too small as the PCI-E connectors for the GPU power actually hits the side of the case. The buttons on the top of the case don't work even when plugged into the right headers. The air vents on the front of the case is no where near enough to have a decent airflow to create a positive air pressure within the case thus leading to stuffy hot temperatures hanging around in the case, you would need extra fans on the top just to give it justice. The tempered glass side panel is a nice addition to the case which feels nice and makes it nice and easy if you was to change anything within the case. Technical Support; 3) I wasn't very happy with the technical support at GameMax as they just told me that the problem i was having, shouldn't be happening and should just either deal with it or return it. I was half expecting them to make me check whether i plugged the headers in correctly, whether i was using updated software and etc. It was very poor of them to just say "contact your supplier and let them deal with it" even though they made the case and should be the 1# supporter.

How to connect power to the hub? useless instructions!

Yes I know, from sata power but what position? the hub connector is totally flat so doesn't give you a clue regarding the way you have to plug the sata power into the hub!!!
Asked by: noquiero
You do not need to connect any SATA connections to the aRGB hub controller. There is a 3 pin connector that you plug in the AURA SYNC connector and in the JRGB (MSI ONLY) (Or whatever the aRGB header is on your motherboard) and that's what powers it. The fans are powered via the 4 pin HEADERS on the aRGB controller and the RGB functionality is powered by 3 pin on the same controller.
