Very Effective Passive Cooler

EK-M.2 NVMe Heatsink is a passive heatsink for M.2 NVMe Next Generation Form Factor SSDs. It is a much needed aesthetical and functional heatsink for many PC owners. It is not a secret that M.2 NVMe SSDs can overheat very easily and be subdued to thermal throttling, thus losing performance. The heatsink brings 7-30°C improvement in SSDs temperatures, or even more with sufficient air flow.

Low Profile Design

The unique design of the heatsink ensures that it is easy to install, it is low profile, easily reusable and aesthetically not intrusive. Simple clips ensure that the heatsink is very easy to install and to re-use if the SSDs is upgraded. The heatsink is ribbed, so it`s not just a flat aesthetical cover, it also acts as a very effective passive cooler. Its simple design ensures a sleek, non-intrusive look that can be easily combined with any aesthetical requirement of the user. The compact design makes it highly compatible so that it does not interfere with other components. EK Water Blocks are offering the new EK-M.2 NVMe Heatsink in black and nickel variants.

Very Compatible

The EK-M.2 NVMe Heatsink is compatible with all single-sided type 2280 M.2 NVMe SSDs (22mm wide, 80mm long). Because the heatsink consists of a front and backplate as well, the compatibility is limited to M.2 (NGFF) connectors of 4.2mm height (as seen from examples).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Effective Passive Heatsink I bought this to complement an NVME M.2 drive which didn't come with a heatsink as something to keep it cool. Packaging is basic, but protects well, certainly no scratches. Thermal pads are easy to trim and have an adhesive side and a non-adhesive side. Do note that the pads are different thickness and the thicker one goes to the top of the drive. I stuck the pads to the heatsink so that they should come off the drive more easily should I ever want to change. Putting it together was tricky. The clips should be hooked on with hook shaped side first, and then levered up on the side with a lead in. This isn't apparent unless you look close, and isn't mentioned in the pictorial guide. It was a very tight fit to get the last clip onto my drive, and I had to use a plastic faced ratchet clamp to finish it off without scratching. Your mileage may vary though depending on the thickness of your drive. Once fitted, did it make a difference? Absolutely, about 20ºC cooler. Was the drive hot enough to fry itself beforehand, probably not, but as they get older and full, thermal throttling can really harm performance, so heatsink now won't harm! It certainly looks good in the case.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worryingly tight fit contains 2 plates 2 pads and 2 clips (value of pennies) - these have to be squeezed together with an uncomfortable amount of force likely requiring pliers or similar - places uncomfortable amounts of pressure on the ssd and will almost certainly scratch during install.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks Good Cools the M.2 SSD by about 7 - 8 Degrees while idle, and the drive still gets to 50 Deg C while under load, but that might be down to limited airflow over the heat sink. Looks good and really finishes off the inside of the build. Can be a bit fiddly to put together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great at doing its job, a swine to install This drops your drive temps by about 10c under load, which is great right, but the little side clips are an absolute nightmare to clip in. You'll be able to do it, it'll just take a while and you'll lose your temper at least once, worth it though.
