Product Overview The EIZO FlexScan range is designed for office and workspace use, with its smooth, flicker free viewing and EIZO's technology backing the monitor, it's ideal for long periods of time in front of the computer.

The EV2456 has ultra-thin bezels on either side, making it perfect for a dual monitor set up and the Screen InStyle software gives you more options to have control over your multi-monitor set up. Eizo's new stand design gives you much better height adjustment and tilt options, with a pull-out-plug-in design to reduce set up time.

EIZO have ensured that the monitor is viewable from as many angles as possible, with the LCD panels having a 178-degrees viewing angles to prevent LCD inversion.

For ports, you get D-Sub, DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI-D for display and audio input, headphone jack, USB upstream and USB 3.0.

In a dimly-lit work environment, a monitor with low brightness settings is more comfortable to use. With its LED backlight, the monitor is adjustable to approximately 1 cd/m² which is less than 1% of the maximum.

To prevent eye fatigue, a brightness sensor called Auto EcoView detects the changes in the ambient brightness that occurs throughout the day and automatically adjusts the screen to the ideal brightness level.

The monitor produces smooth image display by taking an 8-bit signal (256 tones per RGB) and selecting the optimum color values from a 10-bit look-up table (1,021 tones). Also, each monitor is adjusted on the factory line to minimize variability between units.

Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

NVIDIA G-Sync
NVIDIA G-Sync
Date Issued: 17th Dec 2013

G-SYNC works in a surprisingly simple way - it calculates how long the present frame takes to compute and then, crucially, varies the refresh rate of the monitor to match. It works between a minimum of 33.3ms (30fps) and the maximum supported refresh of the display. The key takeaway here is that the graphics card and monitor are both synced up to one another - the monitor doesn't have the limitations imposed by a rigid, fixed-rate scanning routine.

There’s a lot more to High Definition than just having the ability to run your screen at the right resolution. With more than one type of connection available, and the thorny subject of signal encryption to contend with, just because your monitor and graphics are capable of 1,920 x 1,080 or better does not necessarily mean they will be able to display HDTV in all its glory.
