Connection speed?

Why does it state in the technical details that the wireless connection is 300mbps when it is said to offer up to a gigabyte of connection?

Does this mean that the wifi bridge can offer a total of 1GB in wireless connection to all connected devices and that the maximum connection speed for each individual connected device is 300mbps?

I'm just a bit confused, a reply would be greatly appreciated!
