TekSpek Guides
Date Issued: 21st Oct 2008

You've probably read the USB Tekspek, and perhaps your intrigue, or product interest, has lead you to look up Firewire as well. The two are similar in some respects, particularly some of the products that use the two technologies. However, Firewire has its differences, which means it has both benefits and drawback when compared to USB. This Tekspek will look at Firewire and also look at it with respect to USB.

Dynamode 8 Port USB 3.0 Hub Device/Tablet Charger, Built-in USB Charge Port (2.1A), Integral surge protection is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poorly manufactured The USB connector soldering quality is not good. Miles away from IPCA610. Reflowed soldering is acceptable, but hand soldering is bad. Lots of solder balls and solder spikes. Messy reworking of SMD caps. Amazingly PCB is 2 layer even though USB3.0 uses 5GHz signalling. But it does work hence average rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does Exactly What They Say Well what can I say it's a USB Hub that works without issues. I have 2 of these, with my Rhino Hotas and Keyboard plugged in to one, and then I have my webcam, mouse and a few other things plugged in to the 2nd one and they have not skipped a beat. Mouse and keyboard have no delay on them using them through this hub and the mic and webcam quality are perfectly fine as well. If you need a hub this one is well worth looking at. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed product Having had several normal flat USB hubs, this one is well designed. Minimum space take-up, all USB heads are easily found, all the leads can be guided to the rear and away. Net result is that it is neat and tidy and unobtrusive.

Questions & Answers

How long is the cable, and it is unplugable?

Asked by: TobyWilliamson
After you iron out the kinks, it's 1 meter. The cable is a standard USB3.0 Type A to B in USB3.0 blue.
