Chassis Airflow
Chassis Airflow
Date Issued: 20th Oct 2008

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Reviews
Rated 4 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by decent case but beware space limitations for RAM No problems with the case or PSU which is very quiet. It came with an internal fan which I didn't think it had. I bought two large fans for the case anyway, so swapped the case one out since it was smaller. However, once I added the RAM I'd bought, with huge heatsinks on the top, I discovered that the 3.5" bays couldn't hold 3.5" drives, and I had an old one I wanted to add to the case. Got around it by using one of the 5.25" bays. I was probably unlucky with the RAM and motherboard configuration I bought. If I'd had to put more 3.5" drives in, I wouldn't have been able to. 02 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good looking case, semi-decent PSU, great value Bought this to build a low cost mid-range PC, very pleasantly surprised! Although it's quite lightweight it looks like a much more expensive case than it is. No sharp edges, the 500W PSU is quiet and had no problems powering a Core 2 Duo based system with a GT 630 video card, optical drive and SATA hard drive. I am really quite impressed. Replaced the included 80mm fan with a quiet 92mm one. Will be buying again for future build. 10 June 2014
