'winterleaf series'Tanglewood created the first Super Folk cutaway style guitar over 33 years ago, and it’s since become synonymous with contemporary acoustic guitar styling ever since. The TW9 belongs to the popular Winterleaf series of electro acoustics, all of which feature Solid Canadian Red Cedar tops and African Mahogany back and sides, to produce some of the most classic and recognisable acoustic instrument tones.
Tanglewood suggest listening to the hit song “Like a Star“ recorded in 2005 by global superstar & MOBO award winning artist Corinne Bailey Rae, the guitar used to record this song was a Super Folk Cutaway from Tanglewood, and this track is a great indication of how great they can sound in the right hands. solid cedar topTanglewood’s TW9 features a Super Folk body shape, slightly smaller in overall size when compared to a traditional dreadnought style acoustic guitar. One of the great things about this style of body is that it has all the curves in all the right places. From the first moment you take hold of the TW9, you’ll notice the lightweight feel and the snug fit, when played in a seated position or standing. The single-cutaway design also offers unhindered access to the upper register.
The TW9’s back and sides are made from mahogany, well known for its warm mids and full-bodied low end. The top is comprised of the finest solid cedar, a very popular choice for its warm, nuanced projection and resonant nature. If you happen to be a finger style player, the TW9 is a fantastic choice for your next guitar.
On-Board EQ and Tuner
rosewood fretboardThe comfortable neck of the TW9 was made using mahogany, shaped to Tanglewood’s unique profile to provide a comfortable playing experience.
A rosewood fretboard sits atop the neck, home to 20 frets, decorated with small dot positional inlays. All of this makes for a smooth and comfortable playing experience, but also results in a very eye-catching aesthetic.
shape and sculpt your tone
Tanglewood equipped the TW9 with the B-Band M450-T electronics system. This comprises of a pickup and preamp, which features a highly responsive 4-band EQ to enable you to shape and sculpt your tone. Also included here is a volume knob to adjust levels on the fly, and a built-in digital chromatic tuner, perfect for that last minute tune up before hitting the stage!
