with built-in arpeggiator, sequencer and spring reverb tank
Moog’s ‘Grandmother’ is a semi-modular analogue synthesizer with a fantastic integrated spring-reverb. There’s so much more to the Grandmother than first meets the eye. For example, you can begin immediately designing sounds, without the requirement for any patching whatsoever. There’s a built-in arpeggiator and sequencer too which opens the door for heaps of fun, and it’s possible to save up to 3 sequences for instantaneous recall!
Along with the 32-note Fatar keybed, Moog’s Grandmother is one of the best-feeling analogue synthesizers available on the market today. Wherever you choose to use it, on stage or in the studio, the Grandmother delivers a fresh take on the inimitable Moog sound.

Inspired by Classic 'Moog' Modular Synthesizers
immeasurable power and beautyThe Grandmother from Moog is a playground of sonic potential that takes us back to Moog’s modular roots, where synthesis is not just about the end result, but the journey of discovery and creative experimentation. Whilst capable of hugely complex sounds and modulation, the semi-modular design needs no patching at all, meaning that players of any skill or experience will have no trouble exploring and experiencing the wonderment that analogue synthesis can bring.
Inspired by the iconic Moog modular snyths that came before it, Grandmother’s sound engine, modulation engine and onboard spring reverb tank are 100% analogue, which results in a sonic vocabulary of immeasurable power and beauty, without restrictions. Furthermore, Grandmother also sports a simple to use Arpeggiator and Sequencer to further fun, enjoyment and programmable syncopation.
Though not wholly necessary, creative patching and exploration are the secrets to discovering invigorating new relationships between modules and to truly discovering the Grandmothers infinite expanse of auditory inspiration. It’s also possible to patch to override internal connections, allowing each section to function just like an independent module would.
In addition to its standalone function, Grandmother makes for an ideal analogue audio processor for external sound source, and a powerful keyboard front end for expanding a Mother-32, DFAM or Eurorack modular system.
Genuine Spring Reverb Inside
unique creative potentialSpring reverb has unique characteristics about it, full of vast sonic depth and wholly vibrant. If you’ve ever experimented with an authentic spring reverb unit, you’ll understand that it’s quite difficult to find a digital emulation that can come close to emulating the real deal. It’s for this reason perhaps that Moog decided to feature a genuine analogue spring reverb inside the Grandmother.
It sounds as good as you’d expect it to and hands the player with magnificent creative potential never before found on a Moog synthesizer, until now…
Classic Moog Design
a 'spectacularly intuitive interface'The vividly colourful interface with adorns the Moog Grandmother makes its lineage clear from the start. You’re handed unhindered access to dual analogue oscillators, each featuring triangle, saw and square waves. You can also add noise at the oscillator mixer stage, alongside a utility section which boasts a patchable 1-pole highpass filter and a bipolar attenuator.
The traditional 4-pole ladder filter offers a convenient key-tracking switch and large controls that are simple to locate, even in the darkest of environments. The analogue LFO and ADSR envelope generator fulfil the onboard modulation options and complete a spectacularly intuitive interface.

feat. 'Adrian Younge'To explore the sonic possibilities and cosmic context of Grandmother, Moog visited the Linear Labs studio of artist-composer Adrian Younge (Black Dynamite, Netflix’s Luke Cage). In this video, Younge gives his personal “Thesis On Sound” while incorporating Grandmother into his retro-inspired creative workflow at Linear Labs.
