Flagship of the LineThe Alpha 80 monitoring loudspeaker is ideal for producing music higher bass frequencies and require higher power reserves. This model is built with an 8” (21cm) woofer/midrange speaker with a Polyglass cone and a large laminar port and of a 1" (25mm) aluminum inverted dome tweeter. It includes a 40W amplifier for the tweeter and a 100W amplifier for the woofer with a frequency response of 35Hz to 22kHz (+/- 3dB).

Exclusive Design
Distortion FreeThe Focal-exclusive technology of the Polyglass cone woofer found in the Alpha 80 is built with molten glass micro balls on a cellulose pulp core.
This is a far more rugged design than usual single-skin Kevlar and is much stronger polypropylene, which gives you a super-linear frequency response curve and incredibly precise midrange.
Focal’s renowned inverted-dome tweeter also comes built into the Alpha 80. This gives you lightning fast impulse response, with incredible damping and settlement time.
The Alpha 80 has a 35Hz to 22kHz frequency response, ready to take on any project. The low directivity gives the same sound and response across the room.
All these features give a precise and detailed sound with a deep and neutral frequency response curve with distortion-free sound reproduction.
Neutral Sound In Any Room
Adjustable ShelvingGetting the Focal Alpha 80 to a neutral sound is very easy when using the low and high shelving controls. Aimed at frequencies under 300Hz, the low shelving control allows you to adjust the low-end frequencies to the desired level.
If the room you’re in is naturally bass heavy, you can set the LF Shelving knob to +2dB. If has a neutral sound you set it to 0. Then set it to -2dB, -4dB, or -6dB if the speaker is near a wall.
Directed at frequencies above 4.5kHz, the high shelving control allows you to tweak for a bright or matte-sounding area. Set the HF Shelving knob to +2dB in a natural sounding space, to 0 in a neutral space, and then to -2dB or -3dB for a brighter sounding room.
Studio Life Made Easy
Professional Level QualityAdjusting the Focal Alpha 80 to suit your studio is also very easy. The active XLR and RCA inputs and balanced XLR input comes with a +4dBu sensitivity which is common in professional level studio quality equipment.
The Alpha 80 accommodates for use with any unbalanced equipment. The RCA input is purpose built for consumer-level gear, both inputs also work together simultaneously.
Should you ever need more SPL the Alpha 80’s sensitivity switch will allow this simply by moving it to the +6dB position. In most cases this would be at 0dB.
After 30 minutes of inactivity auto-standby mode kicks in, then turns you back on when any audio signal comes through. This helps save energy and by taking the power consumption from 140w all the way down to as low as 0.5 watts.
