Audeze has developed the world's first planar magnetic microphone. Using our revolutionary planar magnetic technology, our new microphones have an incredibly wide frequency response and huge dynamic range. Using our patented Fluxor magnetic technology and Fazor wave guide technology, these are the first microphones that are capable to capturing enormous dynamic range without distortion.
Think you have a large diaphragm condenser microphone? Not so much anymore! At 100mm diameter Audeze’s new mics give the phrase “large diaphragm” a whole new meaning. Instruments like snare drum, slap bass, triangle, acoustic guitar really come alive with our microphones.

The lightweight planar magnetic diaphragm responds extremely fast, reducing distortion and gives better definition of performers location(s) with a strong sense of real space for VR mixes.
Our mics can, remarkably, overcome another typical microphone drawback and pick up sounds from several meters away because of their remarkably high sensitivity. The tetrahedral model allows any VR recording mix to be that much more real. If you’re working with sound for games, Oculus, Galaxy Gear etc., this is the only mic to use. It can do Ambisonics’ B-format audio; great for down-mixing to stereo.
Planar magnetic transducers have few moving parts and maintain their performance without degradation or mechanical wear. Dynamic transducers, on the other hand, continuously degrade in performance over time because of a multitude of moving parts and typically glued joints.
No need for phantom power
Unlike condenser microphones, PMT microphones don’t require phantom power, nor are they damaged if phantom power is accidently applied.
The circuits in PMT diaphragms present an almost purely resistive load that delivers flat and easy-to-scale impedance over the entire frequency range. The output impedance of PMT microphones is an easy match for most mic preamps.
