As a growing number of homes contain more than one computer, their users must find ways to network them. The primary purpose for creating a home network tends to be to provide Internet access to all computers within the house. There are other good reasons, however. These include enabling LAN gaming, data backups from one machine to another and the sharing of music within the home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant. I've never had too many issues with Virgin's super hub, so I've never really wanted to upgrade my router too much. Due to some changes at my office recently however, I had to setup multiple networks and decided to get a quality router for my main network (servers, gaming, business computers etc). God does this router give you a lot of options! You can customise just about everything. It's very refreshing and easy to use GUI has everything where you'd expect it. It was surprisingly quick to set up 2-3 different SSID with very different settings. I've got one visible network, and two non-visible networks (2.4GHz and 5GHz). The visible is for guests, and the other two are for my devices. The range is incredible. My router is on the ground floor, and even 3 stories up I get 5/5 signal on my M17x laptop. I'm getting wireless speeds very similar to wired (98Mbps cable, 85 wireless) which when gaming or browsing is not a noticeable difference. Wireless connections are very fast, and the interface on the router makes it easy to see who's connected to the router and whether they're cabled or wireless etc. I'd certainly recommend these routers to anyone after strong wireless network(s), and very suitable for streaming, gaming, hosting services and more. I'm yet to crash the router with torrents or data tranfer (something Linksys and Netgears often do) which is also a big plus.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Product Easy to setup. Note that Synology NAS DSM 5 despite saying it is compatible is not so you have to setup port forwarding manually! Which was reasonably easy. Sound product with decent performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A stunning router for the advanced home user. I bought this to replace the ADSL version after changing to a high speed connection. The device is simple to set up initially but once you get into the user interface it allows for plenty of configuration. There are too many features to list so I suggest downloading the product documentation before buying. My favourite feature is the ability to set up a guest wifi connection apart from my own secure home wifi connection. That means when friends come round they can connect without having to give them all a password and set it up for them on their phones!
