Product Overview Ultimate gaming immersion
ROG Centurion is a premium true 7.1 surround-sound gaming headset with 10 discrete drivers for sensational audio and precise positioning, and a noise-cancelling digital microphone for crystal-clear in-game voice communication. The headset features a Hi-Fi-grade ESS headphone amplifier to deliver realistic and impactful audio that makes games come alive. The included plug-and-play USB audio station gives you instant, full control of your audio experience for superior sound and an undeniable edge in the battlefield.

Unbeatable True 7.1 Surround Sound
ROG Centurion sets itself apart from other 7.1 gaming headsets with its five discrete neodymium magnets in each ear cup that deliver true 7.1-channel surround sound with incredible fidelity. In order to achieve optimal sound quality, ROG designers spent an excess of time and effort fine-tuning the position of each driver and the precision of the headphone's chamber mechanics to achieve optimal sound quality and accurate positioning unmatched by any other true 7.1 gaming headset. Every gunshot and footstep comes through with pinpoint accuracy and stunning clarity, bringing the battlefield to life. With its exceptional engineering, ROG Centurion delivers punchy and immersive audio for an unparalleled gaming experience.

Crystal Clear Communication
ROG Centurion comes with a unidirectional digital microphone, which uses an optimised sound-processing algorithm to deliver a level of pure voice quality that traditional analog microphones cannot achieve. Boasting an impressive signal-to-noise ratio, extended wideband frequency response and high sensitivity rating, the digital microphone delivers crystal-clear voice reproduction, balanced and natural-sounding vocal tones, and minimal background noise pickup.

The microphone's flexible design lets you adjust it to the perfect position, and also allows it to be folded backward and attached to the ear cup for easy transportation and storage.

HI-FI GRADE HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER FOR TRUE-TO-LIFE GAMING AUDIO
ROG engineers applied their extensive experience of designing world-class sound cards to ROG Centurion with the goal of providing extraordinarily clear and stunning audio performance to gamers. ROG Centurion comes with an external control box that works exactly like a sound card and features a hi-fi-grade ESS amplifier — the world's highest performance headphone amplifier — to improve audio performance even further for brilliant, balanced sound when gaming and listening to music.

FULL AND POWERFUL AUDIO CONTROL
• Audio Profiles - Instantly enable pre-set profiles — such as gaming, movie, music, etc. — with one click.

ROG Centurion comes with ASUS Sonic Studio, a full-featured and easy-to-use sound utility that provides gamers complete control over a wide range of audio features, such as equalisation (EQ) and 7.1 surround speaker level-balancing. Unlike typical audio utilities with multi-screen interfaces that make configuration complicated and time-consuming, Sonic Studio has an intuitive all-in-one view that puts all the necessary audio controls on a single screen to make adjustments fast and easy.

Sonic Studio also includes controls for Sonic Radar Pro, a unique feature that precisely maps in-game sounds — such as footsteps and gunshots — and displays them on an on-screen overlay, so gamers can pinpoint their enemies for a competitive advantage in first-person shooters.

Ultimate comfort large Interchangeable Ear Cushions and optimal clamping force
Comfort is a key component of a great gaming headset, but what is considered comfortable varies from person to person. To fit each gamer's unique preference, ROG Centurion comes with both ultra-soft, full-size memory foam and highly-breathable protein leather ear cushions. Both sets of cushions provide great comfort for prolonged gaming sessions with no ear fatigue.

Additionally, the headband employs an optimised clamping force based on lab testing using a wide range of head types to further improve wearing comfort.

Convenient In Game Audio adjustments Plug and Play USB Audio Station
Hold total control in your hand with the ROG Centurion USB plug-and-play audio station, a USB sound card that also provides effective environmental noise cancellation (ENC) technology, brilliant game-audio spectrum profiles, and a headphone amplifier. Its dedicated, switch-operated speaker output jack even lets you easily switch audio output from headset to speakers without unplugging your headset.

Dedicated volume controls for each channel and microphone
Different games may use various recording methods, so the balance of each channel might be affected and need to be adjusted. ROG Centurion provides dedicated volume controls for each surround channel, so gamers can fine-tune the balance without hassle.

Four Game Audio Spectrum Profiles
With four custom game-audio profile settings, you can enjoy the best audio performance for a variety of game genres, including first-person shooter (FPS), racing, action, and role-playing games (RPGs). Choose the suitable game-audio profile to boost critical audio details instantly. Aggressive wheel-drift effects put you right in the middle of the race track, and enhanced footsteps and gunfire sounds mean you'll pinpoint enemies more quickly and with exceptional precision.

Hear for yourself!
Put on your headset and choose one of the modes below to experience ROG Centurion's game-audio spectrum profiles for yourself.

Reviews
ASUS ROG Centurion True 7.1 Surround Gaming Headset for PC, Exclusive ROG Headphone Stand, USB Audio Station, 3m cable is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from great sound and many sound functions. After few different headphones I have used, like steel series, hyperx, turtle beach, Sony, this headphones have all I like in previous ones. Sound is really amazing. They very comfortable as my head is little big. They made solid you can feel it in your hands. Minus is, cables but that not bother me at all. Headphones holder is wary light. I'm gonna stick to this headphones for good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Audio, good surround sound, bad Mic, bad ear cups I have had this headset now for a week and here are the good points and bad points so far: Packaging I am not really one for detailing packaging but I know some people like it so here I go. The box is bigger then you would expect, but then again there is a big headset, a stand, spare ear cups, speaker wire breakout cable and the instruction books. It's put together quite well and It does seem like a premium product as you unpack it. The only thing letting it down is the plastic holding the headset what seems like it came out of an Easter egg box. All in all its packaged well and looks good. Set Up The set up is easy, 1 wire with 2 usbs on one end plugs into your PC and the other end into the external sound card/audio station. Then headset plugs into that with what looks like a HDMI cable. I then went to Asus support page to download the latest firmware and also the software for the headset. The headset was ready for use. Use For a 7.1 headset the audio is good. Voices are clear and it has a nice deep bass. All of the speakers in the headset volume can be adjusted, Center, Rear, Side, Front and Sub (I set all of mine to max apart from SUB). There are 4 pre set settings you can also choose from in the spectrum settings; FPS, Footsteps, Racing and Action/RPG or you can have it off by pushing the turn wheel in. They all sound distinct, FPS adds quite allot of bass, Footsteps pulls up the high and mid range so that footsteps are amplified, but it does make the rest of the sounds a bit strange. After playing around with these I decided to turn them off, again by pushing in the wheel on that selection. Also other things to note on the audio station you can enable/disable the 7.1, AMP, MIC or route the sound to speakers (if you have them set up through the wire adaptor) You can also choose between a solid or a "breathing", ROG logo on the sides of the headset. Unfortunately there is only red what I think is a shame in the age of RGB lighting. Just for info the rest of my set up is green including my water cooling. The downloadable software also lets you customise the audio and MIC settings and has an EQ with presets or that you can manually adjust. There is also an option to enable "Sonic Radar Pro". Now I have not tried this because I am quite sure you could be banned from games using it. If you want to know what it is I suggest a quick google search. Now the biggest let down by far is the Mic quality, by God it is awful. It sounds like a £5 headset from a dodgy market stool. There is no excuse for this in a £200 headset. The latest firmware try to fix this but it does not do a good enough job. Friends complain of clarity and of a tinny grain to it. The next let down was the Ear Cups. Now what is good about them is the fact that they are changeable. You have a choice of leather or fabric ones. The problem with them is the fact that they are around 1.5cm thick. After 1 Hour with this thing on my ears were numb and hurting as they did not have enough room before the hard inside of the headset. I consider myself to have a normal size/shaped head so this should not be an issue but the cups are just too thin. To fix this I go onto Amazon and purchase some memory foam 3.5 cm thick replacement cups. I stretch them over the plastic holders taken out of the foam cups and just about get them on. The result after is a MUCH more comfy headset with enough room for my ears. (See Pics for the after look and a side by side of the old and new cups). Again a £200 headset with 2 sets of cups but both only 1.5cm thick! Asus are you kidding me?? Use some common sense and make one set thicker then the other..... Anyway rant over. For those who would like a recap or for those who couldn't be bothered to read the above and just want the good and bad points here they are: The Good * Sound Quality (Good bass, good clarity) * True 7.1 (pinpointing other players footsteps/gunfire) * Build quality of the headset (seems solid) * The handy stand (no more hanging them over my monitor) * The sound station. (handy adjustments at your finger tips) The Bad * The mic (I've heard £5 market stool mics sound better) * The ear cups (2 sets but both only 1.5cm thick! ears squished) * The HDMI cable to the headset (Its thick and not very flexible also a little short for those who sit a bit further away) * The Sonar Radar Plugin (beware it can be considered cheating and could get you banned from games if you use it) * The lighting on the headset (Only Red......come on its the age of RGB) Would I recommend this product? It is hard to say. The positives and negatives kind of cancel each other out. I would expect better from the top ASUS ROG headset to be honest.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ROG Centurion The Good - Amazing quality audio. Absolutely spot on with this and the reason I didn't return it. The 7.1 surround works exactly as you would expect it to and you can hear game sound direction with pin point accuracy. The Bad - The headset connects to the base station via a HDMI style connection. The cable is too short and this will be a problem depending on your pc setup. A HDMI extension cable will not work if you needed to extend it. The Ugly - The microphone is trash. There is no getting around it.. it's horrible. "Have you got a bucket on your head?" was the first question I was asked and within a minute my friends were begging me to switch back to my Corsair headset. In the end I decided to keep the headset because the sound is great.... and I always wanted an excuse to buy a Blue Yeti. I'd recommend this product as a decent set of gaming headphones - but as a headset with Mic? Nope.

Questions & Answers

Is the microphone detachable?

Asked by: boose
No, but it can fold back to nearly be completely out of the way. I wish it was because it is so terrible I am considering getting a Micmod so my friends will stop complaining about the MIC quality.
