Product Overview These new motherboards on the AMD chipset based platform support both multi-GPU technologies AMD CrossFireX™ and NVIDIA® SLI™. The M5A99X EVO series offers unsurpassed compatibility with new AMD AM3+ socket CPUs, whilst also being backwards compatible with the previous generation AM3 CPU. The M5A/99 core series is equipped with DIP2, which features DIGI+ VRM technology in addition to the TPU and EPU. DIGI+ VRM power delivery allows users to precisely adjust and control power settings digitally for precise power control and flexible tuning of their system, perfectly serving the AM3+ CPU specification's power demand. Digital control differs from analogue controls by eliminating digital to analogue conversion lag, which helps to improve overclocking capabilities. This means precise power flow adjustment and management as well as easy and flexible tuning including extra DRAM power control for the AMD platform. It is the most precise power delivery available, providing the best-in-class in power efficiency, performance and stability while also helping to maximize the overall overclocking potential.

Also included on the M5A99X EVO is the intuitive UEFI BIOS menu interface. UEFI BIOS allows a user to control and adjust their BIOS settings through the use of a mouse-enabled interface for more user-friendly navigation. The built-in EZ Mode option also provides a drag-and-drop boot priority option, for easier management of boot devices.

Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0, AMD 990X, SAM3+, DDR3, PCIe 2.0 (x16), Quad SLi / Quad CrossFireX, ATX is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Outdated and marginal product compatibility Apart from the shoddy FAQs relating to the SATA problems the FAQ itself is very shallow in real technical breadth. It is aimed at someone who might tentatively clean a child's nose if it had a cold. It is not aimed at technical people looking to perform repairs of an expensive electrostatic device. In the true sense of a repair it would have been better to suggest a process of elimination by trying different drives or by suggesting a BIOS upgrade. This board, on the outside, sounds extremely functional but in truth I am finding the limitations quite frustrating. For all the new technology it will only support 11 SSD devices, very low end memory, and shabby RAID support that standard windows drivers cannot pick up without drivers during install. The chipset combination therefore leaves quite a lot to be desired. I would recommend that anyone looking to purchase this motherboard look strongly at the QVL as this will not only limit your options but the performance as well. On a separate note, this motherboard can generate extreme CPU temperatures when mildly overclocked and therefore I recommend a water cooling solution from the get go. The Chipset and VRM block heatsinks get extremely hot under almost no load and both CPU and chipsets will hit 60+ degrees C while in the UEFI BIOS only. This is worrying because without cooling fans on the chipset heatsinks it isn't clear how they intend to sustain these temperatures over long periods...or whether or not this is normal operationl temperatures and this is in fact well within operational parameters. I am finding that even before loading an operating system (because I cannot find any 1 of 6 drives other than the CD-ROM drive in any of the SATA configurations) I am downloading and looking to flash upgrade the BIOS. Never in all my years of PC building/modding have I had to flash a board from NEW. Extremely disappointing board that I am only persisting with because it took so long to get to me I just haven't got the stomach to send it back.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Boot failure I really wanted to upgrade my motherboard from the one i had. had quite a lot of trouble booting my xfx r9 280x in the UEFI with this board. also audio seemed to die on me for some strange reason only getting static from the speakers. Going to try a higher tier PSU to the corsair CX750W which could be the problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nothing to say really I always buy what I know is good. Asus is always good , replaced old mobo which was 8 years old Asus again. The only thing is that sometimes because of the graphics cards the sata connector could be in a better place.
