Digital Guitar Interface for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Windows
Apogee JAM is a USB audio interface that lets you connect a guitar to your iPad®, iPhone®, Mac or Windows 10 PC and record with Apogee’s legendary sound quality. Now guitarists can have a pocket-sized, plug in and play audio interface at an unprecedented price and capture the warmth and richness of their guitar’s tone. Whether you’re at home, on-the-go, or in the most advanced recording studio, JAM makes it easy to capture your best performance right on your iPhone, iPad, Mac or Windows 10 computer. JAM is built for GarageBand and Logic Pro but works great with just about any app you choose.
PureDIGITAL Sound. Ultimate Guitar Tone.
JAM is a premium digital converter and instrument preamp featuring Apogee’s PureDIGITAL technology. PureDIGITAL means no noise, just great guitar tone. Its special circuitry is optimized to make the amps and effects in any guitar or music creation app sound their best. You will notice the sonic difference between JAM and other similar products immediately.
Ready to Rock – Status and Level Indication
JAM features an input gain control knob. This rotary style wheel is conveniently located on the side of JAM for easy thumb access and allows you to dial in the level of your guitar without accessing software.
• Blue – JAM is connected but not ready
• Green – JAM is connected, ready and working with your software
• Red – your level is too high.
It’s easy to tell if JAM is connected properly by the status LED on the top panel. If it’s green, you are ready to rock and the light becomes your input level indicator. If it turns red, you are rocking too hard and you need to turn your gain down with the control knob.
What You Can Record With JAM
Record Music - Electric Guitar
JAM is designed to capture the true tone and warmth of electric guitars. Perfect for any playing style and genre of music, JAM lets you record, practice, and jam with the authentic sound and responsive feel of a classic tube amp.
While JAM is optimized for electric instruments such as guitar and bass, you can record vocals, acoustic instruments, or even your guitar amp by connecting a microphone such as an SM58 to JAM. With its 40dB of input gain, JAM can be used with certain dynamic microphones by using an XLR to ¼”cable or adapter.
JAM is an ideal tool for recording electric bass guitar. From jazz to hard rock, JAM recordings reflect all of the sonic clarity and detail of your bass playing and tone.
Acoustic Guitar with Pickup
JAM is also perfectly suited to record acoustic guitars with a built-in pickup. Simply plug an instrument cable from your acoustic guitar directly into JAM – just as you would for an electric guitar – and experience the same great clarity and recording quality across all styles of playing.
Keyboards and Synthesizers
Keyboard players can enjoy the ease and superb recording quality of JAM as well. Simply connect any keyboard or synthesizer with a mono output to JAM, set your level, and capture your favorite sounds in terrific detail.
Record Audio for Video - The Padcaster
Record professional quality audio for video with JAM and The Padcaster, a lightweight iPad frame that allows you to attach lenses, lights or audio peripherals to its surface, making it easy for anyone to capture broadcast quality videos in remote locations entirely on iPad. JAM can easily be attached to the side of Padcaster – simply connect JAM to the iPad and any analog microphone such as a shotgun or lavaliere to JAM’s 1/4" input.
True Amp Sound. More Gain. Higher Resolution.
Go ahead, crank it up. JAM 96k brings classic boutique amp sound and feel straight to your guitar, so you can dial-in lush tones without sounding like you’re using amp simulation software. We took guitar input technology to a new level with JAM 96k by using a discrete, Class-A JFET input stage to emulate the warmth and character of a tube amp circuit. With 24-bit, 96kHz recording ability, JAM 96k lets you capture all of your best licks in high definition – from pristine cleans to soaring, overdriven sustain – at the highest pro-level standards.

You've probably read the USB Tekspek, and perhaps your intrigue, or product interest, has lead you to look up Firewire as well. The two are similar in some respects, particularly some of the products that use the two technologies. However, Firewire has its differences, which means it has both benefits and drawback when compared to USB. This Tekspek will look at Firewire and also look at it with respect to USB.
