I recently bought a top end gaming laptop with a quadro graphics card for CAD use, and wanted a new bigger bag for moving it and its huge powersupply around in.
The first oddity is it came wrapped in a large thin zip up bag, similar to a suit carrier which i now have no idea what to do with. Abit unnecessary.
The bag its self however is mixed. The build quality is generally good however some of the fabrics have a slight cheap school bag feel to them. The main straps only appear to be held with one line of stitching too so i don't hold much hope on how long they will hold. The zips and buckles are solid though.
My main issue is the design. There is loads of space which is great, however it is a huge bag and the flappy pockets at the side means it sticks out past my body. There is a number of stupid features:
-Don't put your phone/ipod in the "easy access" pocket at the back with the headphone port, you will just get robbed...
- No where safe to put papers/books/documents that is flat and secure
-Only one zip up internal pocket, which is huge. So nowhere to organise USB sticks, cables etc.
- No flaps on internal pockets, so if you undo the back zip to get to your laptop, the bag folds under the weight of its contents and empties your mouse/PSU etc into the main compartment. Same if you lie it flat on a bus or something.
- Laptop sleeve only just big enough for a gaming laptop (I have a Vortex IV), I doubt an Alienware would fit.
-No padding above laptop and loose foam under it.
Overall it is a nice looking and well made bag, but the poor design just isn't worthy of its top end price tag.
(In fairness I am used to outdoor brand bags such as Osprey, so maybe I was expecting too much?)
