Rated 4 out of 5 by ericconsett good cost-effective cpu
I only do a small amount of image processing and gaming at home and a more expensive cpu wasn't really justified. So far I'm very pleased with this. My linux OS (openSuse) runs very nicely on it along with all my image editing programs. Likewise the rendering in games I've tried seems pretty good with the integrated GPU.

I purchased this CPU with one thing in mind, building a cheap and reliable gaming rig for my lad to play the LEGO series of games on etc.
With my budget set at £250 I continued and built a rig based on a small Micro ATX platform. When I first built the machine I only purchased 1600MhZ RAM, so on goes WIndows 10 and a copy of Lego Marvel superheroes to find the game running at around 25 frames per second at Low settings at just 720P. After an investigation I noticed my motherboard was only running the RAM at 1333Mhz, so after changing the settings and rebooting the game I found the game more fluid running around 32 frames per second at the desired Ram speed of 1600Mhz.
So having realised the truth about using fast Ram for an APU Rig I decided to get hold of some cheap Hyper X ram with a speed of 2133Mhz, installed it in the machine and the difference was certainly noticeable as the same game now runs at an average of around 40 frames per second.
I am really impressed with what this little CPU can do, however you must pair it up with some fast Ram to get the most out of your system.
If you are after a cheap machine that can play games with similar looking graphics and frame rates that are not far off an Xbox One then you cant go wrong with one of these APU's from AMD!!
