Upgraded a desktop system to the A8 7600, the boards BIOS also required updating.
The heat sink that comes in the box is more than capable for standard desktop duties and continues to behave well when under stress with the fan being very nearly silent under load
The performance improvement from an older A4 was quite dramatic with overall performance more than doubling. The newer architectures for CPU and GPU added to more cores and far better on-die integration accounting for this.
MS Windows 7 found it and installed the correct drivers without issue and started using the 4 cores immediately after the install/reboot.
At just over 60GBP inc VAT this was well worth the money.

I needed to replace my motherboard and processor. But at Christmas time money is tight. I prefer AMD solutions with the on-board graphics and this ASRock board and AMD CPU/GPU were a good match and great price. The micro board has plenty of connectivity, would have been nice to have included a USB 3.0 header, but I expect they are keeping the price down.
I took up the offer of insurance to cover delivery and any immediate issues, because I'm concerned that today's delivery systems don't suit fragile items well. In the event the packaging was excellent and the delivery with emails and SMS was very convenient.
So far all is well - the bios updated itself straight away but has become unstable recently, probably overclocking is not the best option with my setup.

AMD A8 7600 kaveri apu
Akasa AK862 cooler(old reused)
Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-DS2(rev3.1.ships with F7 bios)
Crucial Ballistix Sport, Low Profile 4GB DDR3 PC3-12800 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.35V 512Meg x 64 BLS4G3D1609ES2LX0CEU
reused old hard drives and case/power supply.
did not have to flash the bios for the fm2+ apu.
the whole thing works like a trooper. having had an amd athlon II x3 435 in the past(a right little corker) i was confident in the A8 7600 and it has not disappointed. multitasks well with every day use(not a gamer). ignore the nay sayers saying its not a true quad core, the 4 'cores' show intask manager. windows is snappy, xp 32bit and 4gb ram is enough for me. showing 3.3gb usable with 128mb for the graphics(page file disabled). works lovely with win 7 ultimate 64bit. would suggest using 8gb+ on windows 7 64 bit or greater.
overall, for an everyday budget 'do it all' system, you cannot go wrong at this price.

Used this in a build for a friend and was actually surprised at how good the graphics were.
I will definitely be using this chip again in budget builds as you can always add a discreet gpu at a later date.
