Akai hit it out of the park with the original MPK series and thank goodness in the audio world a sequel is usually a good thing. With 61 semi-weighted, full-size keys with aftertouch you know you have a good starting point. Akai know too well that the modern keyboard whether in the studio or even up on stage rarely needs just a decent keybed.
The MPK261 also features 16 RGB-illuminated MPC pads, 24 assignable Q-Link controllers including knobs, faders, and switches as well as an amazing software bundle package that includes Ableton Live Lite, Hybrid 3 by AIR Music Tech, SONiVOX Twist 2.0, and Akai Pro MPC Essentials. The MPK261 is a beast for anyone looking for a controller that does it all.
The MPK has 61 semi-weighted, full-size keys with aftertouch all housed in a premium piano-style keybed. You can assign how much feeling you what just by pressing down harder or softer. Knobs, faders and switches The MPK261 packs it all and makes enhanced workflow as easy as possible. With 24 assignable Q-Link buttons you are able to step outside the usual parameters of lets say a virtual synth and assign commands like undo, copy, paste etc directly to the MPK61 controller. 8 assignable knobs and 8 switches, so you can choose how you want to interact with your software. Do you want to ride volumes with knobs? Or make a filter sweeps with a fader? Now the choice is yours. Three banks expand the number of knobs, faders, and switches (up to 24 each).
That’s right actual MPC pads! 16 RGB-illuminated each with 4 banks for 64 pads. They feel the way MPC pads should and are done the way only AKAI can. There is also built in MPC functionality like Classic MPC Swing, MPC Note Repeat, MPC Full Level, and 16 Levels. Get the real deal old skool feel with some nice modern touches.
The MPK61 plays well with others and has USB-MIDI with 5-pin MIDI input & output. (1) 1/4" (6.35mm) TRS expression pedal input and (1) 1/4" (6.35mm) TS sustain pedal or footswitch input. The MPK261 is made for the studio as well as the road and only needs USB power so no need for a power adapter.
