Product Overview You're In Control
Engineered to be an all-in-one controller solution, the Akai Professional MPK249 is a performance pad and keyboard controller that combines deep software integration, enhanced workflow, and core technologies from the iconic line of MPC workstations. Each member of Akai Pro's MPK series comes fully loaded with a comprehensive interface for manipulating virtual instruments, effect plugins, DAWs, and more. MPK249 features 49 semi-weighted keys with aftertouch, 8 assignable knobs, faders, and switches, 16 MPC-style pads with RGB feedback, and onboard transport buttons. Three banks expand the number of knobs, faders, and switches (up to 24 each), and four pad banks expand the number of pads (up to 64 total). Plus, MPK249 is optimized to interface directly with your Mac or PC with USB power and plug-and-play connectivity.

Made To Play
Akai hit it out of the park with the original MPK series and thank goodness in the audio world a sequel is usually a good thing. With 49 semi-weighted, full-size keys with aftertouch you know you have a good starting point. Akai know too well that the modern keyboard whether in the studio or even up on stage rarely needs just a decent keybed. The MPK249 also features 16 RGB-illuminated MPC pads, 24 assignable Q-Link controllers include knobs, faders, and switches as well as an amazing software bundle package that includes Ableton Live Lite, Hybrid 3 by AIR Music Tech, SONiVOX Twist 2.0, and Akai Pro MPC Essentials. The MPK249 is a beast for anyone looking for a controller that does it all.

The MPK has 49 semi-weighted, full-size keys with aftertouch all housed in a premium piano-style keybed. You can assign how much feeling you what just by pressing down harder or softer.

Knobs, faders and switches
The MPK249 packs it all and makes enhanced workflow as easy as possible. With 24 assignable Q-Link buttons you are able to step outside the usual parameters of lets say a virtual synth and assign commands like undo, copy, paste etc directly to the MPK249 controller. 8 assignable knobs and 8 switches, so you can choose how you want to interact with your software.
Do you want to ride volumes with knobs? Or make a filter sweeps with a fader? Now the choice is yours. Three banks expand the number of knobs, faders, and switches (up to 24 each).

MPC pads
That’s right actual MPC pads! 16 RGB-illuminated each with 4 banks for 64 pads. They feel the way MPC pads should and are done the way only AKAI can. There is also built in MPC functionality like Classic MPC Swing, MPC Note Repeat, MPC Full Level, and 16 Levels. Get the real deal ol skool feel with some nice modern touches.

The MPK249 plays well with others and has USB-MIDI with 5-pin MIDI input & output. (1) 1/4" (6.35mm) TRS expression pedal input and (1) 1/4" (6.35mm) TS sustain pedal or footswitch input. The MPK249 is made for the studio as well as the road and only needs USB power so no need for a power adapter.

Software Included:

-Hybrid 3 by AIR Music Tech
-SONiVOX Twist 2.0

Ableton Live Lite
The Software of choice for many of todays top producers. From using the game changing session view to build up an arrangement or bang out a live set to using the more traditional one page arrangement view. Ableton Live lite covers the spectrum in modern Digital music creation. Use the infamous Ableton Drum, Instrument, and Effect Racks to take your productions to a new level. Make sure to check out the incredible native studio effects including EQ, compression, reverb, delay, chorus, filter and more or simply use any of your own 3rd party VST and AU instruments and effects. Ableton Live lite is the perfect kick-start or taster for those who want to see what all the Ableton live fuss is about.

Hybrid 3
Hybrid 3.0 high-definition virtual synthesizer that combines old skool analogue sounds with a full range of futuristic digital manipulation capabilities. There is over 1200 presets to get you started but hybrid really shines when you start to tweak the 6 oscillators. Heaps of filtering options, step sequencer, envelopes, fx as well as 8lfos, Hybrid is the best of both the analogue and the digital worlds.

Twist is one killer sound design tool, taking advantage of Spectral Morphing Synthesis Twist can make some sounds that are out of this world. With extra features like a wicked multi-mode filter, independent Amp and Filter envelope generators you can design unique sounds then mess with the onboard pro-grade chorus and reverb effects. Although the sounds are complex the gui is very inviting with large knobs and a very easy integrated patch browser.

MPC Essentials
The MPC has a long and storied history. Its one of the pieces of audio equipment that challenges the way music production works but in such an intuitive way that it changed the musical landscape forever. Now you get to have that MPC magic in software form featuring Standalone mode (so you don't even need a DAW) or as a VST, RTAS, or AU plugin, 1GB sound library easy importing of your WAV and AIFF sound samples so you can assign them to any pad.
