Akai MPD26 MIDI Controller

AThe history of Akai’s hardware range when looking at the sampling drum machine market is legendary, with the MPC series often being referred to as being one of the catalysts of hip hop and bringing beat making to a whole generation of artists. The MPD26 is a USB based MIDI controller that continues that lineage and offers up genuine MPC pads whilst distilling the essence of that classic range into a studio controller which makes it perfect for producers, programmers as well as live performing, musicians and DJs.

At the very heart of the MPD26 is its bank of 16 velocity and pressure-sensitive MPC pads. The controller has the ability to switch between four different banks turning those 16 pads into a total of 64 assignable pads at your fingertips. The MPD26 also features the MPC series' assignable Q-Link controllers, enabling you to control nearly any parameters in your software in real time. You get a total of six assignable Q-Link faders and six assignable Q-Link 360° knobs along with a dedicated set of transport controls for instant access to the most commonly used DAW or sequencing-software controls.

One of the major features of the MPD26 is that it isn’t just a regular control surface; rather it contains some of the key MPC technologies that have made the MPC range such a notable part of production history. Central to all this is the inclusion of the famous MPC Swing settings that are capable of turning perfectly aligned sequences into human-feeling performances and you can specify exactly the degree and timing of the swing to make the groove your own.

Akai MPD26

The MPC note repeat feature is a capability that enables the MPD26 to automatically play a rhythm pattern, such as 16th notes on a hi-hat, for accuracy and speed of entry. The MPD26 also has MPC Full Level and MPC 16-Level on its pads.

The MPD26 is plug-and-play over a USB connection and also class compliant, so you can use it with your Mac or PC without installing any drivers and the USB connection also bus powers the MPD26 so the included USB cable is all you need. The MPD26 also has traditional DIN MIDI input and output jacks, so you can use it with other MIDI hardware such as synths and other sound modules.

Akai MIDI Controller

The MPD26 is the perfect interface between your creativity and the computer-based studio. Its blend of intuitive MPC controls and technologies meshes with easy USB computer connectivity to deliver the control instrument you need.
