German Handmade Precision 'X-ART' TweeterADAM Audio’s A77X is a horizontally designed studio monitor which marries together all the technical fortitude found across the AX-Series. Thanks to its impressive, compression-free sound reproduction and superb radiation characteristics, the A77X is well suited to both nearfield and midfield monitoring.
The jewel in the crown of the A77X is the 2 ½-way system. Each of the 7” woofers begin to work simultaneously at 38Hz and at 400Hz one woofers begins to fade out and just the second woofer continues to operate in the midrange up to 3kHz. This cuts out interferences and potential phase cancellation in that all-important midrange. Although the frequency transitions and possible distortions lay outside these areas, the human ear is particularly sensitive to midrange frequencies.
Perhaps the most noteworthy feature in the A77X is the super wide stereo foundation and immense stereo imaging. Treble and mids are reproduced with incredible three-dimensional realise and the lows are, as you’d rightly expect, enormous without ever compromising on accuracy.

The 'X-ART' Tweeter
neodymium magnetsThe lack of a traditional voice coil in X-ART tweeters results in a very flat impedance. Please note the vertical scaling – in a normal plot, the impedance rise would disappear in the line itself, as it is 1/500 of the normally expected value. Correspondingly, the phase response is extremely flat within ±1.5°.
In summary, X-ART tweeters have a high efficiency (approximately 96 dB/W/m), a perfectly linear impedance (3.9 Ω ±0.21), an equally perfect phase response (±1° within the utilized bandwidth), excellent directivity characteristics and a superb power handling capacity; plus, the neodymium magnets and yoke (ring) utilized in the X-ART units result in perfect magnetic shielding.
