As one of MSI’s top-end Radeon RX 480 graphics card, this GAMING X series comes equipped with a customized design and powerful RX 480 specifications. This card specifically targets itself toward gamers, from those that play the latest competitive MOBA’s to the most popular and graphic heavy AAA games. It runs off Polaris architecture and comes ready to create the next levels of immersion within the world of VR, plus it boasts higher speeds and 8GB of memory, doubling that of lesser RX 480 versions.
Through the MSI Gaming App each LED on the RX 480 GAMING can be controlled individually and customized using the various animation effects. These animations range from responding to game or music sounds to a breathing effect - of course they can always be turned off.

The GAMING-X 480 from MSI has various aspects to help keep this gaming GPU as cool as possible. Every detail of this intricate heat-sink plays an essential part in providing a cool and quiet gaming experience.
This RX480 utilizes advanced aerodynamics, Airflow Control Technology directs more air directly onto the TWIN FROZR VI heat pipes. The special deflectors on the heat sink enlarge the surface area, creating lower temperatures and better gaming.
Embedded within the GAMING X RX480 GPU are copper heat-pipes running through the cards fins. These pipes have been made with a smooth square shape to maximize heat transfer from the surface of the copper base plate.
To temper the heat generated by a powerful GPU, MSI's GAMING X series graphics cards use a solid nickel-plated copper base plate. The base plate catches the heat from the GPU and transfers it to the heat pipes for dissipation - further increasing the cooling.

Dispersion Fan Blade Steeper curved blade, accelerates airflow, increasing effectiveness
Traditional Fan Blade Steeper curved blade, accelerates airflow, increasing effectiveness
Dual TORX Fan GPU Power
TORX fan technology built into the GAMING X RX 480 works in teamwork with TWIN FROZR VI to achieve new levels of cooling. The fans design generates 22% more air pressure for supremely silent performance when gaming. The fans also feature double ball-bearings for a strong and lasting core for years of smooth gaming - also helps with noise elimination.
During intense gaming or benchmarking
Completely silent during idle, multimedia or light gaming
Clever Cooling with MSI RX 480
MSI released this technology in 2008 and it has since become an industry standard among graphics cards, including this Radeon RX 480. FROZR will eliminate fan noise by stopping the fans in low-load situations, meaning you can stay focused on your gaming, streaming or other media without the noise of spinning fans.
The best environment for minimal fan noise
Balance between in-game performance and silence
Max performance from higher clock speeds and fan performance
This app from MSI allows you to access single click performance profiles that can unlock extra potential for gaming, or keep your RX 480 card silent during light sessions. It also features the EyeRest tab, giving you easy access to image quality improving technology. The LED control tab gives you full control over your MSI 480 GAMING-X LED's to set the mood.
This technology belongs to MSI but is recognized throughout the world of graphics cards overclocking. It displays hardware performance and grants you complete control over your Radeon RX480 GPU. Plus it grants the ability to customize fan profiles, record videos / games and is great for benchmarking.

It's been a good start to the year for PC enthusiasts. Intel has unleashed the deca-core Core i7-6950X and Nvidia has served up a suitable partner in the form of the high-end GeForce GTX 1080. Handy, if you happen to have thousands of pounds to pour into your next PC, but for everyone else a more mainstream solution is needed to sate our appetites.
