Overall, these are great disks and my first choice for NAS use. I just had my first failure (other than DoA Amazon because they rough and tough them). The problem is intermittent, but after having to rebuild the NAS array a third time I decided to swap for a new one and it's been fine. Only issue is despite being under warranty, when WD test it they'll say it's fine and not replace it. I suppose a 5% failure in 2 years+ is OK, but need to build that into the budget.

Purchased two drives and added to my storage setup. First one has failed within 1 month, with the drive making clicking noises.
Drives will fail I do understand that and in my experience WD has been the most reliable, so I'll keep buying them.

I was interested to see the other 2 reviews saying about failures.
Of course everyones experiences are different, but just to add some balance I've now ordered 73x 6Tb WD RED drives since October to use in servers, and not had a single failure in 24x7 operation.
So they can't be all that bad...

Seems quicker than my old drive. Good amount of storage. Appears to work fine. Will give it a year and see how it goes.

Ordered 2 of these to upgrade capacity in my Synology NAS. Both arrived faulty. Seriously - both of them. Drives would not spin up and were making noises no disk should ever make... I wonder if Scan just got a bad batch of them?

I ordered 2. One initialised and then started clicking. One entered my array and has failed a week later. Thank goodness both didn't do that.
